"TEKA"

Dear Angels,

As I was scanning through your success stories. I didn't see anything about "Teka". This is an update on her, and I'm also sending some pictures of her that I've been promising for a long time. I hope you put them on the website. Teka is doing just great, as you can see from the pictures. She has really brought a lot of joy and love to our home and we thank you again for her. We take her to ball games and she loves to play with the other dogs that may happen to be there.  But, she is very happy to get home so she can get on the bed and snuggle up close. Again, we are very happy and blessed that we have her. She couldn't be loved any more than she is here. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Thanks again,

Harold and Nona Yount

KATJA

ADOPTED!

ELLA FITZGERALD

Adopted!

Hi, I am a fun, spontaneous & lovable.  I come when you call me so that I get attention.  I love to have attention.  My favorite pass time is chasing kitty toys all over the house.  Once I have tired myself out, I want to be held and petted.  I like to sleep next to someone, but when I wake up and see feet moving under the cover you can bet on it, that I will attack. Ella is about 7 months old and weighs 5 pounds.  Her purring starts as soon as you reach to pick her up.  Ella lives with cats and dogs and loves them all.

               PRINCE                           PRINCE & NEW MOM

~adopted~

One of our angels saved this puppy from instant termination at the Memphis Animal Shelter when their owner (who had them all packed in a clothes basket) grew tired of looking for homes for them and was about to surrender them.

update: Prince is now an extremely privileged dog who is currently attending obedience school & doggy day care. He is dearly loved by his new mom and we wish every dog in this world could find a home like Prince did!

Shamrock- Memphis Shelter Photo                                  Shamrock- today

Hi, my name is Shamrock.  I was rescued from the Memphis Shelter Nov 7, 2003 by a wonderful lady named Barbara.  She put me in boarding at the request of another volunteer who didn't think she could foster me, because she would get too attached.  Instead she came and walked me and brought me treats almost every day.  Her daughter knew it was just a matter of time before she got too attached to give me up.  She was right!  In no time I wiggled my way into her heart and their home full of other dogs, cats and plenty of toys, too!  I have gained weight and my hair has gotten longer and thicker.  They say I am a good boy as I haven't had any accidents and have only chewed up a couple of things.  I am trying real hard, because I am happy here with my new mom and doggie and kitty friends.  Thank you Guardian Angel Pet Rescue for saving my life!!!

Love,

Shamrock

Spike & Mia

ADOPTED TOGETHER FOREVER!!

We adopted Mia (on the right) from the Memphis Animal Shelter. She was pregnant and gave birth to 5 puppies.  Spike is one of the five and they have become so attached to each other they cannot be separated.  These are BEAUTIFUL and sweet dogs, and have been in our rescue far too long.  Someone give them the home they deserve!

OUR NEW MOMMY!                    "CHAOS" & "RUCKUS" -our new brothers

NOTE FROM NEW MOM:

I think they like it here and I can't imagine life without them already.  They are such sweet dogs and they are doing very well in our home.  I credit Joe and Petra with that since they took such good care of them and trained them well.  They did a wonderful job with them and I appreciate all they have done for them and us.  We will definitely keep them posted even after we move.  Thank you again for everything!

RAVEN

adopted!

Note from foster mom:

Raven is now 4 months old.  Tiny for her age.  I don't think she will be very big.  She is solid black with beautiful green eyes.  She loves playing with my big cat and seems to not be bothered by Frisky, my dog.  She is a true lover.  She purrs non stop and loves to cuddle.  Very kid friendly.  My 7 yr old son totes her everywhere.  She has never scratched or bit anyone.  She is Ms. Curiosity and is known to try to take a shower every once and awhile.  Anybody who is looking for a cat that will love them and not ignore them, needs Raven.

CUDDLES

ADOPTED!

Cuddles is a 9 wk old male kitten that was found as a stray by a GAPR volunteer.

ADOPTED!

Lucky Loki was just a baby when he was saved from being surrendered to the Memphis Animal Shelter by an "angel".  He is now a cherished family member living the life every dog deserves. Please read the Holiday note we received  from his new mom.

"LUCKY LOKI"

It's the Holiday season and I want to thank Guardian Angel Pet Rescue for bringing "Lucky"- (formerly known as "Loki") into our lives...He is a sweet, loving, family dog who gets along with everyone.  He loves attention and he gets plenty of it, with two kids and two adults in the house.  When we are gone his new girlfriend-(yellow lab named Heidi), keeps him company.  Thanks for a great dog, we looooove him.!!!  (Here are some Halloween pics, have not made Christmas ones yet)

Sincerely,

Suzy Permar -(New owner of "Lucky")

SAMMIE

~adopted~

Hi, my name is Sammie and I am a lab mix and I am right around a 1½ years old. I have been a ward of Guardian Angel for so long and I would just love to find my forever family. I thought I did one time but they decided that they didn’t want a dog after all and back I came to Guardian Angel. I am pretty mellow for a lab but when there are other dogs around I love to play with them. My foster mom has some kids and I really like playing with them to. I think I am a pretty good girl and so does my foster mom. She tells me that there is a family out there that is just waiting to find me and that when they do I will have a great home where the family loves to play and cuddle with me. So I am trying real hard to be patient until they get here. Until then I am giving my foster mom all the love and kisses that I have.

              Sophie  Adopted!!!

Josie's pup - 5 months old here

Hello, I’m Sophie.   My mother is a full-blooded German Shepherd.   When our family (me, my mother Josie and my brother Tanner (who is still looking for a home by the way) were  taken to the Memphis Animal Shelter, they wrote on our card that we were wild.  The nerve of them!!  Our mother was only trying to protect us and keep us out of harms way.  Anyway, when our Guardian Angel came to bail us out on our due out date (mother said that we don’t need to know about things like that) the shelter said we were not adoptable.  Thank goodness she put her foot down and insisted on adopting as least me and my brother.  Well the next day poor mother was taken to the euthanasia room and this really nice lady saw how sweet mother was and called our Guardian Angel.  She made a few phone calls and the rest is history…we are all  safe now!  I love to play with other dogs and we give lots of puppy kisses to our foster kids.  Tanner (my brother)  said I am a mommy’s girl.

~fostered by Dana Kilpatrick~

Just a note to say thanks:
Angels,
I wanted to write to tell everyone how grateful I am that there are people in this world who are willing to open their hearts and homes for unloved and forgotten animals in our area and beyond. I adopted Sophie from GAPR in Oct. 2003. Since then, she has become the queen of our castle. She brings sunshine to every day and is always there to give hugs and kisses to anyone who will let her. She is truly the "perfect" dog. I am amazed how she went from a "wild" puppy that was unadoptable according to shelter employees to the most loving, well behaved child you could ask for. She has a sister who was also rescued by GAPR and they get along perfectly. Her 2 legged siblings couldn't be happier when she's around but I have to say she is probably the happiest of all. We love her so much and can't imagine life without her. Thanks again for being there for Sophie and all the other animals you've saved.

GEORDIE

Geordee was rescued from life on the streets by a GAPR volunteer and tossed into a life of love and luxury when he was adopted by a wonderful family who met him at one of our PETCO adoption days and then  promised to love him forever.  Geordie even paid us a visit recently when he had his picture made with Santa at Petco!  Way to go Geordie ...you lucky dog!!!

~*TAWNY*~

adopted!

Hi! My name is Tawny. I was adopted from the Memphis Animal Shelter and then rejected when my new owner found out I had heartworms.  Now that it was known I had heartworms the shelter staff were going to have to kill me. That was before GAPR said they'd help me.  My GAPR foster family thinks I’m some kind of terrier mix. The vet says I’m about 2 years old. I’m 16 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh about 22 pounds now.    I’ll be ready for heartworm treatment soon. (Anybody want to help the angels pay for this?) I get along well with other dogs and all people. I really love to run and play. I love to snuggle up with you and give you kisses. I’m housebroken and crate trained. I even go to the door when I need out! I’m a really playful, loving girl. Won’t you please take me home and be my forever family?

~*CORKI*

adopted!

Hi! My name is Corki. I was saved from the Memphis Animal Shelter by an angel who just couldn’t let me stay in that awful place. I’m a little under 1-year-old. I’ve been told that I look like a Corgi/Weimeraner mix.  I’m about 16 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh around 30 pounds. I get along well with other dogs and all people. I really love to run and play. I’ll snuggle up with you if you’ll pet me (I’m really soft, just like a teddy bear). I’m housebroken and crate trained. I still have a lot of puppy left in me, so put me home in my crate if you go out. Would you please take me home and be my forever family?

Buster

ADOPTED!

Buster Brown is a seven month old chocolate Labrador retriever, and he is quite possibly the most beautiful dog of his breed and color we have ever seen. He is pictured here with  his chewie toy.  Buster was rescued from the animal shelter on his kill date, and why he ended up in that dreadful place, we will never know. He is potty trained and crate trained, and he loves to play and snuggle. He can catch and fetch, but often prefers a good game of chase rather than to just bring his toy right on back to you! He is an active but gentle puppy, and he would make a terrific addition to any family.

~Fostered by Emily and John Parker~

Toby

We rescued Toby from death row at the Memphis Animal Shelter. He found his forever home at one of our Petco adoption days!

KOBIE

adopted!

Kobie is a great dog that we rescued from the Memphis Animal Shelter.  We think he is an Aussie/Blue Heeler mix and about 10 months old.  He seems to be good with men, women, and children and other
dogs.  I'm not sure about cats yet, he likes to chase them around the house, but he doesn't hurt them.  Kobie knows all his basic commands like sit, stay, and heel. He is almost housetrained.  He is very active and needs a lot of room to run, and he is also learning how to catch Frisbees in
mid-air.  He loves to be hugged and loves to give doggy kisses.  Kobie is  also
a very good watch dog.

Patti in kill shelter                             Patti today!!!!

ADOPTED!   Patti with her new mom

Patti is a three or four year old terrier mix.  She is a sweet and
affectionate dog (who thinks she is a lapdog), but very protective of
her person or family.  She is fine with women and children, but men have
to prove themselves (as it should be).  She is food aggressive with
other dogs in the beginning, but after she realizes they are going to
let her have her share, she is fine.  She is housebroken, UTD on shots,
heartworm negative and scheduled for alteration.  She would be an
especially good pet for a single woman or Mom.

ADOPTED!

This pug mix was rescued from death row at the Memphis Animal Shelter.

GOMORK

ADOPTED!

Gomork was rescued from death row at the Memphis Animal Shelter.

Kita and Kya

ADOPTED!

Hi there! This dynamic duo is Kita and Kya. Aren’t they adorable? They were rescued from the Memphis Animal Shelter last year and unfortunately their family is not in a position to give them the life that they deserve any longer, so they are presently accepting applications for a new forever family. They will be a year old on October 8th and are current on all of their vaccinations. They are fully-grown and both weigh about 15 lbs. These two have never in their lives been separated an would like to go to a home together and to help accommodate them Guardian Angel is going to let them be adopted together for the price of one. Now these two may look a lot a like but like all twins they have distinctly, unique personalities.

Kya’s name means lovable and she is just that! She is a lap dog and loves to cuddle and be petted. Somewhere in their “mixed” genes there was a hound of some sort because she howls like a coon dog. Kya is completely kenneled trained and knows all of her basic command. She loves children and other animals.

Kita is the more outgoing of the two, she loves to romp and play. But for all her independence she is very attached to her. They sleep curled right up together every night!  Like her sister she is kenneled trained. Unfortunate for both with their family being so busy they spend the majority of their days and nights confined to their kennels. We hope you can make room in your hearts and your home for these beautiful little girls. They want a family of their own that can love them and give them the life we deserve and in return you will be rewarded with unending love and everlasting loyalty.

~note and newest photo from Keda & Kia's family ~

Hello,

We just wanted everyone to see how happy we all are together.  This picture was taken at Christmas at Kristopher’s parent’s house. We would also like to have this picture put on the Success Story page so that everyone will know how happy we all are together as a family. I am adding a message to put with the picture.

Keda and Kia are very happy in their new home. We enjoyed them so much and they have brought so much joy to our lives. We would like to thank Guardian Angel for giving us these wonderful dogs. We look forward to a long happy life with them.

If this could be done we would appreciate it so much!! We are truly grateful for them. They are so loving and full of life. Thank you again for our dogs.

POSEY

Adopted!

Hi! My name is Posey, and I am a 4 and one-half month old German Shepherd/Rotweiller mix, who the vet thinks will be around 60 lbs. (I’m 32 lbs. now). I was being surrendered to the Kill Shelter because I wasn’t mean or aggressive but rather kind of timid; then my Angel stepped in and saved me! I am just a big goober and I love to play with my good buddy Dino for as long as he will let me. I am excellent with small children and love to give my one-year old foster sister big kisses and eat sweet potatoes out of and off her hands. I walk well on a leash and am 95 % crate trained and house-broken, as my foster parents are still learning my "signals." I bathe really well as I at least think that I love water. I am still a puppy and I like to play a lot, so if you have a playmate for me that likes to romp, I sure would love it; however it’s not absolutely necessary so long as I have someone to love me. Will you be my forever family?

Francis                                    Francis -all grown up! 11/03

ADOPTED!!

Francis an 11 wk old gray tabby we adopted from the Memphis Animal Shelter. He is a very sweet, very typical cat. When he wants affection he will come and let you know. Quiet and very calm. Gets along well with the other dogs and cats. He would prefer a calm home. He can be very active at times, playing and wrestling with the other cats but mostly he is very calm and content sitting on the window sill or watching the other animals.>

An update from his family:

Attached is a recent picture of Francis [ now known as Mr. Nichols ]. He was adopted in June 2002. It is such a great pleasure to have him as a member of our family.

Amber

ADOPTED!
Hi, I'm Amber.  I am a female terrier mix that was saved from the Memphis Animal Shelter by an "angel" .  I would tell you how old I am but ladies should never reveal their age.  Let's just say I'm "young".  I am a rather petite lady with a large zest for life.  I'd rather not be left alone so if there are any stay-at-home moms needing some company, I'm the one for you.  I love kids, love other dogs, and even love cats!  I'm pretty much a happy-go-lucky gal.  I prefer to sleep with my mom or kid and I only like going outside long enough to do what I need to do...unless my mom or kid is there to keep me company.   Oh and boy do I like to go for rides in the car!   I even like to help cut grass on the riding lawn mower.  Anything you do, I like to do too.  So, enough about me.  Why don't you come and pay me a visit so I can get to know you and possible make you my forever family!

Update:

We called her new
dad last night and he said she's doing great!  She stays in the kitchen with
Jack all day with no incident.  She helped him cut grass Monday on the
riding lawnmower!  He said he's going to build her a box of some sort
and attach it to the mower so she can have her own seat.  Sounds spoiled
already!

HARLEY

adopted

Hi my name is Harley, I am a one year old Shepard mix. I am housebroken and
crate trained. I love to play with the other dogs at my foster home and all
the fun toys. Even though I'm a year old, I still have a lot of puppy left
in me, so I'm very active. But when it's time to settle down I will lay down
beside you and go to sleep.

Could you be my new home?

MICKEY

adopted!

Mickey  was found scavenging through a McDonalds bag in a Home Depot parking lot.   Mickey is great with toddlers and other dogs.  He will probably be a medium size.  He is very sweet and is generous with kisses.  He is crate trained and house broken.  He loves to run and play in the backyard.  Mickey has been a joy to have.

~fostered by the Williams family~

POOH  BEAR

ADOPTED!

Some children named me "Pooh Bear". These "little angels" were trying their best to take care of me while I was living in a box in their apartment complex. I was covered with Ticks, fleas and extremely hungry when my foster mom found me roaming her school's parking lot. My children, (the angels that they are) told my foster mom all about me and asked that she please find me a better home! (I would especially like a home with some new children to play with.

Love & Kisses,

Pooh Bear

note from Pooh Bear's family:

On behalf of my wife and kids Emilee and Jon, we just wanted to thank you all, particularly Joe Vaughn and Sue Taylor for helping us adopt our new dog Pooh Bear.  He's an awesome dog, who lives up to his name in both the "Poo" and Bear departments!!!  He is really happy with us, and I can only attribute his loving disposition to the care that Sue provided for him after his rescue.  We love him dearly and look forward to our future together.  And for those of you who wonder about those big paws... yes they still are huge!!!    The vet estimates he will weigh between 80 and 100 lbs when he's grown up.

            (shelter photo)                Kensington (a.k.a. Kenny)

KENSINGTON

ADOPTED!

Kensington is a young beagle mix (approx. 2 ½) rescued from the Memphis Kill Shelter.  He was going to move to New York, but things have changed and he is happily staying in Memphis with his foster family.  They were concerned about bringing him home to meet their big dogs, but he was never afraid and likes to get the biggest lab all worked up to play with him.  He isn’t very interested in the cats, but enjoys stealing their toys when he gets the chance.  He will make himself right at home on the sofa and across your lap if you give him the chance to join your family.  He is also pretty quick with the kisses and if your not paying attention, he’ll get you when you least expect it!

ARTEMUS

Adopted!!

We rescued this little guy from death row at the Memphis Animal Shelter. He is a young, adult male - Shitzu mix - possible spaniel.  Very sweet and loving with people, but a little snappy with other dogs if they get in his space.  Would make a great companion for an older person or couple.

THE INCREDIBLE MR. JINGLES

ADOPTED!!
Well I am not really sure why this happened, but one day my family and I went out for a drive. They pulled up in this lady’s yard and threw me out of the car, and backed out leaving ruts in her yard! Of course, the lady brought me in and named me Mr. Jingles; since I had this ridiculously large bell on my collar. They had previously adopted a dog from Guardian Angel, called to see if the Angels could help find me a home!
I was boarded for a little while at the vet’s office, but that’s okay because one day this blond picked me up and took me to Adoption Day (Boy, is that for the birds!.. I mean the dogs!). I prefer to stay at home and play with my pals, the dogs at the blonde's house! I live with a few, but my favorite is Priscilla (she is a pit mix and was a rescue too, but she won the blonde’s heart and is now adopted.) Anyway, Priscilla and I play wrestle, and I love to swat at the dogs as they go running past me. There are a few other cats I live with too, and I like them, even though they hiss at me sometimes. When they start all of that foolishness I just leave and go find someone else to play with. I really am a sweet boy and love to be petted, but I love to play too. Cardboard boxes are my favorite toy and I really like to eat too; I weigh 16 pounds! Enough about me, all I really want is to find my forever home. So please fill out an application and tell my people a little about you and that you would like to meet me.

PATHFINDER

ADOPTED!

During the GAPR Benefit Tag Sale, a patron who had just left came back down the street.  She was upset, because someone in front of her had hit a dog and kept on driving.  Two Angels jumped in their car, and went up the block.  Sadly, a sweet-looking lab mix had already crossed the bridge.  Standing over the lab and howling was our beloved Pathfinder.  One Angel moved the lab back from the road into the grass, and the other put a leash and collar on Pathfinder and walked him to her house.  He was terribly sad, and did nothing but lie in the yard and howl for the next few hours.  The Angel took him to the vet to make sure he wasn’t hurt, and searched for his owners.  No one responded to her ads.  Pathfinder made friends with his foster brothers and sister (Jimmy, Denali, Laredo, and Whalen), and isn’t so sad anymore!  He is about 2 years old, very friendly and has that wonderful hound dog bay!  He is good with children and other dogs, and seems to ignore the cats.  Can you take the place of Pathfinder’s lost family?

NOTE FROM NEW FAMILY:

I'll get my mom to take a picture of him (my daughter now calls him
Bloozer), me and the girls and send it to you.  He is a very special dog
and acts as though he has been with us forever.  He sits up and puts his
paws on AnnaBelle's shoulders every morning when she gets up so she can give him
a great big hug.  It really does warm your heart!  And another funny thing
is that my neighbor lets him come to her house just about every day and he
just hangs out on her couch.  But about 4:30, she says he starts getting
nervous and wants to go home so she puts him back into our yard.  She said it's
almost as if he doesn't want us to worry about him.  I thought that was
really sweet.  So, despite all of the "problems" we had in the
beginning, I feel really blessed that he is now part of our family!!  It was
definitely worth the hassle!

ROADY

ADOPTED!

Saved from being surrendered to the Memphis Animal Shelter

This 8  month old Australian Cattle Dog/Kelpie mix is house-trained and gets along GREAT with other dogs. He's best buddies with an Aussie and  a Lab/Chow mix even though they both out-weigh him by about 40lbs. He is also good with small animals. He plays very nicely with his foster mom's two rabbits, and is very playful and cuddly. His favorite thing is to curl up with his humans while they  watch TV.

SEYMORE

ADOPTED!

FROM THIS......

GEORGE                  This is where he spent his days

TO THIS!

GEORGE

ADOPTED!!

George's story up until now is sad. This young lab mix came to us with all his bones showing and wounds on his body. His owner kept him on a short chain with a pathetic shelter. By the looks of him, we assume he was also used for fight practice for a (well-fed) pit bull that was chained near him. His owner was seen by a neighbor carrying a shotgun to the backyard, and when asked what he was doing, he replied, "I guess I'm gonna have to shoot that dog 'cause I ain't fed it in a month and it just won't die!" Well, the neighbor talked him into giving her the dog and that was the beginning of his new life! He is now safe, happy, and unbelievably sweet and funny. He absolutely LOVES all his new toys and carries them everywhere he goes.   He is soaking up the affection and gets along great with dogs and people. We haven't tested him with cats yet.  He was (of course) heartworm positive , but not anymore!
UPDATE: George's "owner" was charged with criminal abuse and neglect by the state, and LOST in court last week!  Congratulations to George! Someone give this great guy a chance; HE DESERVES IT!

~fostered by the Snodgras family~

Note from new mom:

George is wonderful!!  He is settled in very well, and sleeps next to me on his pillow bed.  He seems to like it.  Last night he went to bed while I was still doing things around the house.  He has demolished both of his stuffed toys, which he really enjoyed, so I need to get some new ones.  It is so funny how he always carries something around in his mouth.  It reminds me of my kids when they were little carrying around a blanket. We gave him a bath last night, and he was perfect.  He is really enjoying the yard and the kids.  They wear each other out chasing each other around and then lay on the couch together and watch TV.  George did find a thing or two in the kids rooms to steal, but he gave them back without a fuss and now they have put them away.  I just can’t believe how good he has been!

I just cannot thank you enough for taking care of George.  He fits so perfectly in our family and we adore him!

FOX

adopted!
Would you look at this sweet guy?!  Fox is pictured here with Angel Megan.  You can see how affectionate he is...and Angel Megs isn't even his foster mom.  Fox's origins are a mystery...he showed up at our vet's office one day, and ended up coming home with an Angel.  He knows several commands, such as "sit", "stay", "down", and "shake", and is excellent in a kennel.  Fox gets along with everyone, from little puppies, to bigger, more aggressive dogs, and is very gentle with children.  Fox deserves a loving forever home, but would be very happy in a nice foster home.  He is currently undergoing heartworm treatment, and is neutered and housebroken.  He is about a year old, and weighs 45 pounds.

I wanted to bring you some news on Bogey. He is doing
quite well in our home. He is getting along well with
my other Siberian Gypsey. They now have full control
of the couch and just about anywhere else they lay for
that matter. All of the initial shyness is gone and he
is very friendly to all he meets.  The love that we
share for our pets wasn't divided but multiplied.
Thank you very much for your help in finding our
newest fur child.

TASHA                                                 SHERMAN

Sherman & Tasha

Adopted together!!

Sherman  & Tasha were part of a litter of  pups dropped off in a box last summer at the Olive Branch Humane Society. We got them when it was decided their time was up, and they were scheduled to die. Sherman was blessed by a priest when he was a pup because he was the runt, and it obviously worked!  Instead of just quietly killing them, the shelter called us to see what we could do. We thankfully found the space for them; they are really a terrific pair of dogs! They are both very eager to please,  and good with every dog they meet, as well as cats and kids. They walk well on a leash, are good about not jumping on people, and hardly ever bark!  Please find room in your heart and your home for one, or better yet, both of these dogs. Sherman is very attached to his big sister and will miss her terribly if separated from her. We do believe he would bond with another dog quickly, but would be very insecure at first as an only dog.

Hi! My name is Benji. (Everybody kept calling me "that Benji dog" so my foster mom decided to name me Benji.) I was found running stray by Bartlett Animal Control. Somebody must have lost me, cuz I'm such a happy, people dog. I'm housebroken and crate trained. I love to follow my foster mom everywhere. I just really like being next to my person! I love to play fetch and chew on rawhide. I don't chew on anything I'm not supposed to! I like to play with other dogs, too! I'm about 10 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh around 18 pounds. Won't you please take me home with you? I'd love to cuddle up to you in my new home.

SCOUT

ADOPTED!

Hi my name is Scout and I am just as beautiful and wonderful in person as I look in the picture. I am a young puppy about 6 months and I love to run and play but I am also very affectionate. I love to play with my foster sisters and I get along with cats too. I would do great in a home that has kids as I love to play. My Angel says that I am lab something mix, whatever that means. All I do know is that I hear all these great stories about having forever families and I really want one of my own. Please come on out and meet me, give me a chance to show you what a great dog I am!

*Scout has been a wonderful addition to his foster home, he gets along so well with his foster family, the two footed and the four. He is housebroken and crate trained and is racing right through is obedience training. Whoever adopts Scout is going to be getting a really terrific dog!

KENYA

ADOPTED!
Kenya is a young female Vizla (or mix) that was nearly euthanized Saturday, March 8th, at the Memphis Animal Shelter. Her Guardian Angel walked  through the door at just the right moment.  She is the sweetest, most loving dog, who deserves a happy ending!!  She gets along fine with other dogs, cats & children too! She was heartworm positive and has been successfully treated.   She is ready for a forever home and family to love.

DIAMOND SPARKLES

ADOPTED!

This little kitty hit the jackpot when she became part of this Cordova, TN family. Her three little girls give her all the love & attention a kitty could ever want.

RAJA

Adopted!

Raja was 4 months old when she found her forever family. She was the smallest one of the litter.  She is a female who is a little shy, but very playful & loved to play with Pounceville who is pictured on the cat page and is still looking for a family.

JAN

adopted!

Little Jan is 4 months old, current on all shots and is spayed. She is very playful and loves everyone. She doesn't know a stranger. She is full of confidence that all people love her. She loves the camera and is a natural. Jan would love to be a model for your new kitty photo album when you adopt her

BRYLEIGH

ADOPTED!

Bryleigh was sitting on death row at the Memphis Animal Shelter waiting for
her card to be pulled.  She started the year living on the streets and
already had a litter of pups (they claim they adopted out).  Minding her
own sweet business, some guardian angel came and took her from that very
bad place.  Now she has gone to her forever home where she is a "palace
princess" and shares the throne with her brother Noodle.  She still doesn't
know what to do with the cat but she is learning the skill of tolerance.

Tinker Bell.
She is 4 months old and the last of Peppers litter. You might remember the picture with all her siblings and her mother when she was only a few days old. Well, all her brothers and sisters have been adopted. She is current on all shots and waiting to get spayed. Although she looks bigger in the picture she is really the tiniest of things. She is as soft and velvet and a little timid. Once she gets comfortable set back and watch her fly. She was named Tinker Bell by her foster mom who says she jumps and plays like she has little fairy wings. She is shy at first but would love to brighten your home with her magical presence.

Tigger

adopted!

Tigger is 5 years old, he is neutered, front declawed and current on all shots. Tigger loves attention and loves jumping to the highest points in the house. He wants to snuggle up next to you in the bed or perch himself on the window seal and sun bath. He is okay with gentle dogs, people and a kitty or two. He has never been around small children so not sure if this would stress him or not. Tigger would love a quiet spot to sleep in. Can you give him this?

DAVEY

ADOPTED!

Davey is a very lucky shep/collie mix pup.  His Memphis Animal Shelter picture captured the heart of a woman in New York.  She donated his shelter adoption fee and is now sponsoring him until he is adopted.  We don't know too much about him yet except that he is a sweetheart who now has his entire life to look forward to thanks to an angel far far away who cared enough to save a dog she may never even meet.

ANNIE

ADOPTED!

Annie is  a Memphis Animal Shelter survivor.  She is 2-3 years old, approximately 45lbs and stands
21 inches at the shoulder. She was lucky enough to find a wonderful home on a horse farm with the same family that adopted our dear Chloe was adopted by. (Chloe is one of Sophie's pups & Sophie was a little golden mix we got from the Memphis Animal Shelter)

~fostered by Carole Wickham~

note from new forever family:

I just wanted you to know that Chole (an Australian Shepard mix) that we adopted last Spring -about- is doing fine.  She loves the farm here in Brighton.  She is still jumping too much though and I would appreciate some tips on breaking that habit if you have some.  She just gets SO excited.

Annie (maybe golden retriever and Chow?) is doing great too.  I believe Donna sheltered Annie for 6 or 8 months.  Annie and Chloe run the farm all day and collapse at night.  Annie is the calmer of the two, but is actually more protective around strangers.

Thanks again for these wonderful dogs.

Abby

We rescued Abby from the Memphis Animal Shelter.  She was adopted quickly and is now guaranteed safe and happy life!!

Note from new mom:

Hi Allison... I hope this note finds you and your family well. Everything
is  great with me and Abby.  I can hardly remember what my life was like
before she came along.  We have an appointment at the vet on Saturday to get the
> heartworm treatment and her rabies tag.  We will also be getting the okay
to  get on the plane to visit my parents... my mom can't wait to meet her.
She has a toy box full of toys from my friends who can't stop buying her

everything you did for her and that you continue doing for other needy dogs.  I have

SOPHIE

Sophie& her 2 littermates were rescued from a ditch by a good Samaritan.

A note from her new mom:

Hi Miss Barbara,

BANDIT

Bandit is a female mix that was found at 8 weeks old walking down the
middle of highway 64 near Eads. She is a wonderful dog with a playful
and very loving personality. She is approximately 10 pounds and the vet
thinks she may grow to about 20. She will likely be a medium size adult.
Bandit loves to play with children and our adult Greyhound mix. She is
about 75% house trained and is crate trained. Bandit is now about 15
weeks old and is spayed and very healthy with all her shots and heart
worm treatment up to date. Please consider adopting this beautiful
little girl, she'll love you forever.

CAPTAIN

Adopted!!

Captain was rescued by a good Samaritan turkey hunter who had seen him and two other young dogs on an abandoned railroad track for nearly a month. They were getting thinner and thinner, and he shared his own snacks with them every time he saw them. Finally, after realizing these guys were homeless, he called a Guardian Angel, who took them in. Sadly, when she went to get them checked out, she found out that Captain was heartworm positive. his life!  He between 18 months and two years old, and is a Catahoula Leopard Dog/ Corgi mix.   He weighs 20 pounds, and is about 12 inches high at the shoulder.

Note from new family:

Captain is doing well in his new home. He is glad that is buddies Hobie & Buster have new homes too!  His heart worm treatments are going well. Although he was first shy & need time to warm up to us, he has adjusted well. He loves to sleep in his dog bed, go on car drives & walks. He has become very loving animal and loves to get treats!

"ABBY"

Hello Guardian Angels,

I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know how things are going with our adopted dog Abby.  She has become a wonderful addition to our family and if I can read her signal correctly (a tail that is constantly wagging and a gallop in her walk) I don't think she could be any more happy either.  Today marks one year that she has been with us.  She goes to the vet regularly to make sure her health and maintenance is all up to date.. and the occasional bath and brushing...I think the jury is still out on how much she likes those baths.. but we sure like to hug on her when she comes home clean and smelling pretty.  She has her fun rides in the car and the run of the backyard.  She is a real protector.  We love her so much we now can't imagine our lives without her.  Attached is a picture of a recent gathering of friends and family and as you can see she fits right in.

Thank you all for the wonderful job you do!!

Michael Bowen and Stuart Ledman

PRECIOUS (ADOPTED!)
Precious is a Pug/long hair Chihuahua mix. She is all black, and her nose is fairly flat but does stick out some. She is the shape and size of a Pug, but not as stocky.   She's friendly, playful and gets along well with the other pets in her foster home, and has an excellent disposition.  She is crate trained, but could use a little work on her manners and general obedience training.  Precious appears to be young (2-3 years old).

BABE
ADOPTED!

BRYLEIGH

Adopted!!

I was rescued from a shelter in Waverly, TN by my Angel, Miss Kim.  She was on her way to a business meeting, and passed the shelter...she couldn't just NOT stop!  She knew I was there waiting for her to get me out!  I am the sweetest little girl, with a very calm disposition.  I weigh in at a petite 16 pounds, and probably have some Chihuahua and terrier in me.  No one knows for sure, and I ain't tellin'!  A girl has to have her secrets, you know!  If you are looking for the perfect small companion, you should meet me.  I am already housebroken, and walk beautifully on a leash.  I am the kind of little dog that wants to be with you and let you know how glad I am to be there.

 PEGGY

 3-year-old Fiest mix

 found running stray.

ADOPTED

April 2003

 Whalen

My Angel saved me from being "put down" at the Memphis Animal Shelter. I look kind of big and scary, but I am really a sweet, good natured dog.  I love kids, and even let my foster mom's neighbor's little four year old girl sit on my back like a horse! She's not afraid of me, and you shouldn't be either!  Just because I am kind of muscle-y, and look like I do, doesn't mean I shouldn't have someone to love and protect.

RUSTY

Hi! My name is Rusty. I was saved from the Memphis Animal Shelter just before my time was up (if you know what I mean). I’m about 1-year-old. My foster family thinks I’m a Sheltie mix. I’m 16 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh about 25 pounds. I get along well with other dogs, and ALL people. I really love to run and play! I’ll snuggle up with you if you’ll pet or brush me (I’m really soft, just like a teddy bear). I’m totally housebroken (never had even one accident in my foster family’s house). I’m crate trained too, but if you’re home I want to be around you. I even go to the door when I need out! I’m a really easy going guy;

ADOPTED MILO AND AJA

BEFORE                           WINNIE                               TODAY

ADOPTED!

Hi!  My name is Winnie.  I am a sweet and happy female Chow Chow puppy.  My "angel" rescued me from a woman who was trying to sell me for $20.00 in the parking lot of the Memphis shelter when I was only 4 weeks old.  I was covered in mange and real hungry.  I've been treated for the mange and my eyebrows have grown back.  Don't I look stunning now!  Aren't I the cutest puppy ever? And I have the cutest solid purple tongue to give lots of kisses with. I will be ready to move into my forever home around the second week of March (when I'm about 10 weeks old). I can't wait!

~*SMOKEY*~

(ADOPTED!)

Hi! I’m Smokey. I was rescued from a Kentucky shelter that was closing its doors forever. They were going to destroy me and my other friends!  My foster family thinks I’m a Schnauzer/Poodle mix. I’m about 3-4 years old (best they can guess since I can’t tell them my birthday). I’m 14 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh about 20 pounds. I’m kind of shy at first, but once I get used to you I love to be held and petted. My foster family taught me how to play (I didn’t know how before I got there). I growl when I play, but don’t be scared, that’s how I talk to you. I’m crate trained and housebroken; I don’t always like to go out with all the other dogs that live with my foster family, and would like a little more personal attention (okay, so I am kind of a prima donna!). Won’t you please be my forever family?

WHAT A SWEETIE!

ADOPTED!

Hobie was found by the good Samaritan hunter along with Captain and Buster. As you can tell, he is a very affectionate, happy guy, with that cute little tail always wagging! He looks just like a Border Collie, but only weighs about 20 lbs. The vet says he is a year old, and is (YAY!) heartworm negative! Hobie slept in his foster mom's kitchen his first night out of the woods, and behaved so well she gave him extra treats the next morning. Hobie is great with other dogs and children, and pretty much ignores the cats next door. He is ready to meet his forever family!

Stryker

adopted!!!

Update from forever family sent April, 2005

Stryker, aka, Jazz has four other canine brothers and sisters he plays
with everyday.   They all get along so well and have such a great time.
His sweet personality just melts your heart.  Sometimes I
affectionately call him JAZZBO.   Jazz loves to cuddle is full of funny
antics, which always keep me laughing.   He always instigates the game
of chase around my big backyard.   The other pups have yet to catch
Jazz, because he is so fast, and he knows it!   He absolutely adores my
son, who visits from Mississippi several times a month.   Every night,
as he lays down on my bed or next to my bed, you can hear Jazz give a
long sigh then groan of utter contentment.  He and my other pups keep my
nights from being lonely, make me smile if I have had a bad day, warm my
knees with their chins, lower my blood pressure, agree with everything I
say, warm my heart, get me outside on a beautiful day, and above all
TEACH THE MEANING OF UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.
