MISTY -ADOPTED

Misty came to Guardian Angel pregnant. She still has two of her kittens with her – Bea and Opie. Misty is a Lynx point Siamese mix, weighs 7 lbs. and is approximately 1 year old. She is up to date on vaccines, is spayed and housetrained. She is aloof until she gets to know you, then she’s very affectionate. She watches the other cats play but rarely joins in their antics. Misty is a typical Siamese except she is not as vocal as most; in fact she is very quiet. She gets along with the dogs, cats and people of the household.

Nebraska

Adopted

Breed: Yellow Lab and Chow mix

Age: Approx. 13 weeks on 12/7/06

Guardian Angel received a plea from a woman who could not stand how the owner of eight puppies, their mother and two of her older puppies were being treated. A number of rescue organizations were called; Guardian Angel was there to help. Nebraska is one of the eight young puppies. He is an adorable male puppy. He is up to date on vaccinations and has been neutered. The foster family is working on his housetraining and crate training. He loves playing with other dogs but has not been around cats yet. BEAR

ADOPTED!

Bear was picked up from a flea market by a family as a cute little puppy.  He lived in their backyard until the family decided to move out of state without him. Bear was left behind so a neighbor started caring for him in June. She says that Bear is a very kind, loving and smart dog who even gets along with her dog. He is a little over a year old Golden Retriever Chesapeake Bay retriever mix. Bear is neutered, up to date on shots and searching for a family to call his own again.  Please click here to fill out an electronic adoption form.

HANNAH WILLIAMS

ADOPTED!

                                                                        (Courtesy Posting)

Breed: Golden Retriever, Shepherd and Chow mix

Age: Approx. 5 months on 11/14/06

                                                                                          Height: 15 in. at shoulder

                                                                                          Weight: 15 lbs.

Hannah was found in the Berclair area - she was skin and bones. Thanks to an angel who took her in, Hannah has gained weight, has started her puppy vaccines and is on heartworm preventative. She will be spayed in December and is in the process of being housetrained. Hannah has a reddish golden coat mixed with black highlights and looks like a miniature Golden Retriever. Hannah is a warm, loving dog and plays well with other dogs. She is passive to dominant dogs. She warms up quickly to people but pays little attention to cats. She will be good with children but may be a bit too lively for young children. Hannah is a fast learner and exhibits the quick intelligence of a retriever. Hannah will be a wonderful companion dog for many years to come.

BUDDAH

ADOPTED!

My name is Buddah and I am a 5 month old male pitbull puppy. My birth mom was a beautiful brindle pitbull, who was owned by some very not nice people. Just 3 days after my brother, sisters and I were born, the police came to our house. They broke down the door, which made Mom real upset since it was her job to protect us. She ran towards the door barking and they shot her 3 times. She was taken to the Animal Emergency Center , along with us in tow, and they staff at AEC fell in love with all of us. They did everything they could to save Mom, but she was in such bad shape they had to help send her to heaven, so she would not be in any more pain. They wanted to make sure nothing bad would happen to us babies, so some of the girls each took 1 or 2 of us and they became our new foster moms. (We were a pretty big litter - 2 boys and 5 girls). I have grown up in a foster home with 10 dogs, 5 cats and 1baby squirrel, so I have not met an animal yet that I don't get along with. My favorite activity is sleeping on the couch though - I love to lay with mom and watch a good movie. I'm really like going to the park and letting all the kids run so I can chase them. Then we like to roll in the grass and play with toys. I love the house I'm living in now (and they love me too!!), but mom says it's time I get a new loving family of my own who can make me the center of attention. He is  turning into such a well behaved boy. He is probably the CALMEST puppy I have ever had. In the house he lays in front of the couch and just rolls on his back. He LOVES food and will do just about anything for a cookie. He's such an easy dog, I know he'd be a great addition to a family who already has pets, or he'd be a wonderful first dog fr any home. He's fully potty trained and knows sit. We are working on lay down and stay. He picks up things like that very quickly. Please contact me to set up a meeting with Buddah

Bugsy

Adopted

Geoffrey

ADOPTED!

Geoffrey is my name and cuddling is my game!

Breed: Poodle (small miniature or a large toy)

Age:  Approx. 5 years old, 12 lbs.

Sex:  Neutered male

Color:  Charcoal gray

Nature:  charming, very loving, very calm, very gentlemanly

Interaction:  loves the other dogs (ESPECIALLY blond females) in his foster home as well as the cats;

      good with children over 8.

Manners:  Impeccably house trained

Health status:  Current on shots & vaccinations

  Heartworm negative

Geoffrey arrived at Russell Rescue in Columbia, TN thin and hairless from a terrible skin infection that had caused his skin to become almost alligator like in spots.  An incredibly caring GAPR Angel fostered Geoffrey through the worst part of his recovery and then he moved to his new foster, looking not unlike Bob Marley, the great singer, until he got his new POODLE GROOM….now he looks like Pierre.  OH…be prepared that if you are taking a bath, Geoffrey will want to get his bath, too.  Even if he had one two hours prior.  HE LOVES to be bathed, brushed and groomed.  CLEARLY, before he fell on hard times in Middle TN, he had a loving owner who took great care of him.  Geoffrey requires a fenced yard.   His forever family will have to guarantee his heartworm preventative will be given timely and accurately.   While I think Geoffrey would enjoy life as an only dog, if he had one other female dog to dote upon, he would be truly in heaven on earth.

If you love poodles, then DO NOT pass up this chance to own a great little dog

~fostered by Julie Clark~.

Angela Bassett

ADOPTED!

Breed:  Basador (Bassett/Lab mix)

Size:  Medium, 35 lbs. Age:  not over 5 years

                                                                                         Sex:  Spayed female

Health:  Up to date on shots; heartworm negative & on preventive; Frontline

Training:  Perfectly house trained; crate and leash trained; basic obedience commands

Temperament:  Excellent.  Angela is quite, frankly, the happiest dog I have had the joy of fostering.  She loves her foster sisters & brothers, even the cats.  She has no bad habits.  She will run if not kept on lead or in her fence, but she is a scent hound and cannot help but follow her nose.  Loved getting a bath (pampering is right up her alley).  Prefers the company of her person to all others.  Quietly sits by your side on the couch or at your feet on the floor.  Sleeps next to the bed on the floor.  UNKNOWN with children but bassets and labs are known for their good behavior with kids. Angela Bassett was found in Roan County as a stray.  Unbelievable to think no owner came forth to claim this sweet girl, she soon made her way to West Tennessee to be fostered by this Guardian Angel. Perfectly housetrained, Angela will signal she needs to go outside by baying as any good hound dog can.   She’s adamant about being with her people as much as possible, so don’t think you will be able to escape her loving presence. Angela needs a fenced yard to romp in so she will be safe and never lost from her loved ones again.  Angela will do best with a family that is calm and that will spend lots of time with her, lavishing her with the attention she so deserves.  Won’t you open your heart and home to Angela?

ROCKY

ADOPTED!

Rat Terrier mix    20 pounds  16 inches at shoulders

Rocky is a wonderful dog. He came to us with a sad story. He was attacked
by a dog, then his owners took him to a boarding kennel and never came back
for him. Rocky came into the rescue after he had lived at the kennel for 4
months. He has been the perfect dog. Rarely does he jump on you and when
he does it is so gentle. Normally he will just walk up to you, sit in front
of you and look into your face with those sad brown eyes. He is the perfect
dog, housetrained, does not chew or tear up anything. He loves to sleep in
a small cat bed in the office of his foster Mom. Rocky gets along with cats
and other dogs. He is good with children also. Rocky also came to us with
a high positive for heartworms. He has had 2 treatments and will go back
for his final one at Thanksgiving. He will be ready to go into his forever
home.

Breed: Black lab mix

Age: Approx. 1 year on 11/3/06

Height: 12 in. at shoulder

Weight: 25 lbs.

Li’l Girl was spotted running the streets this summer and wouldn’t get near anybody trying to catch her. But Li’l Girl had a surprise for us - she had another puppy, Faun. Because of Li’l Girl’s protectiveness of Faun, it took the neighbors six more weeks to catch them. A wonderful family has adopted Faun.   Li’l Girl is up to date on vaccines, is on heartworm preventative and has been spayed. She is a different dog now. She wants to jump in your lap the minute you sit down and give your face a good licking. She sits on command and comes when called. Li’l Girl is great with cats and the two big dogs and is very protective of her foster home. She is housetrained and crate trained.

HUXTABLE

Adopted!

Huxtable is a brindle Heinz 57 mix, about 10 months old, 19 inches tall and weighs 36 pounds.  Huxtable is very sweet and easy going and gets along great with children and other dogs.  He is curious about the cats, but has not chased or challenged them.  He had heartworms, but has been treated and ready to go into his new home.  Huxtable spent a day at the grand opening of a day care center.  He took naps on the floor, let the children play with him and was the hit of the grand opening.  He is already crate trained and doing well with housetraining.  Sometimes he forgets, but if you remind him it is time to go out you will have no problem.  He also loves to share your bed.  If you are looking for a sweet dog who has never met a stranger then you have found him.

just give your ear a little nibble. Won't you be the one to let this

FIONA

ADOPTED!

My name is Fiona. My approximate birthday is 12-01-05. At 7 months old,  I currently weigh 38 lbs. I am not sure what breed I am but I can tell you my mom weighs about 40 lbs and her name is Samantha (Above).  She looks like an Australian Shepherd mix. I love attention and am good with kids, dogs and cats. I am submissive to alpha dogs. I have shown some guard dog qualities. I bark when people come to our door. Here's the kicker... I am completely and totally housetrained!!!

TOBY

ADOPTED!

Toby is one of the most laid back and easiest dogs. He is typical hound, as he moves very slow, with his nose to the ground and has the hound bark. He loves to be with people and will sleep the day away in your bed or his. He is crate trained, house trained, up to date on his shots and on HW preventative. Toby was found running the streets of North Shelby County. He had a huge wound on his left side and we do not know if it was from being hit by a car or attacked by another animal. It has healed very well.  Toby should be great in any home. He has such a funny personality, sweet and loving. He does not require much exercise. Toby is about 5 years old, 19 inches tall and about 60 pounds. He is what is commonly called a "couch potato".

 Wiggly

Wiggly's former owners were keeping her tied to a pick-up truck. She had worms and was covered with fleas and had no water. She's good with cats, lives peacefully with a  big dog and totally loves people. She's completely crate-trained.

ROXIE- Courtesy Posting

ADOPTED!

Roxie is a sweet and very lovable girl.  She came to us as a stray, and we have tried unsuccessfully to find her owners.  She appears to be around one year old and possibly a collie mix.  She weighs 35 pounds.  She loves to run and play ball.  She likes to go for walks and is doing very well on leash training.  She does well in our dog run or on our screened porch, but she definitely needs a fenced yard where she can run and play.  She is quiet and almost seems to be house trained as she has no accidents when she is on the porch.  She loves to be brushed and bathed.  She has not been around very young children while in our home but does well with older ones and other dogs. She needs a family who will love her and keep her safe.  It is my belief that she will reward that family with a lifetime of love.

HEYLIE

ADOPTED!

Ahhhhhhhhhh!  That is what everyone says when they look at me.  I look like a little angel, but don't let that fool you.  I am full of spit and vinegar.  I love to run and play.  But I also love to veg out and cuddle.  I am about 6 months old.  I am mostly housebroken and definitely will not soil my crate.  Nobody likes to sleep in that stuff.  Our best guess about my origin is a Red Heeler/Terrier mix.  I am up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed and on heartworm preventative.  I get along with other dogs and cats.  I do like to kind of be bossy on occasion.  But I would make a wonderful companion for someone with children.

No she is not a pirate but she does only have one eye. Sunshine lost her an eye due to a very serious upper respiratory infection. Sunshine is an adult cat and would prefer to be an only cat. She is cuddly when she wants to be but is an overall sweet cat. She is current on all of her shots and is spayed.

Gertie a.k.a "Mrs. G"

ADOPTED with her baby SOPHIA

Gertie  is a very petite, young mother cat.. She was rescued from the Tipton County Animal Shelter on 04/24/06 along with her two (3) month old kittens.  Well,  to our surprise, she was pregnant again and now has five (7) wk old babies all looking for a home. Gertie is a very nice cat that is fine with dogs and other cats. Her babies have been handled since the day they were born and are very tame and socialized.

SABLE

Copper

ADOPTED!

Hi, my name is Copper. I was named after the cute little hound puppy in the Disney movie, The Fox and the Hound. I am neutered, up-to-date on all of my shots and current on heartworm preventative and frontline. I currently weigh 21lbs. and my approximate birthday is April 1, 2006. It is believed I am a Beagle (possible mix). I was saved, with my sister (Tessa) by a Guardian Angel from a horrible situation of owner neglect. I had a really rough start in my life and all I ever really wanted was a family to love me and treat me kindly. I have a lot of love to share and am eager to show it with kisses and attention. I love food and will eat my sisters food and mine if given the chance. My current foster home is my first opportunity to live indoors, so I am working really hard on my house-training. I am crate-trained and will stay in my crate while you're away without accidents. I will also sleep in my crate at night.

So Fine (Sofi)  click here for more photos

ADOPTED!

Breed:  Golden Retriever/Great Pyrenees mix

Age:  Approx. 1 year old, 75 lbs.

Sex:  Spayed female

Color:  Pale blonde

Nature:  charming, very loving, very eager to please, playful but NOT hyper, has the Great Pyrenees calm, stately manner and the golden retriever happy, pleasing attitude.

Interaction:  loves the other large dogs in her foster home as well as the cats;

great with children over 8.  Some small dogs irritate her (me, too!)

Manners:  Impeccably house trained

Health status:  Current on shots & vaccination, heartworm negative & on prevention.

So Fine, called Sofi for short, was owner surrendered to Rutherford County (Mufreesboro TN) because she ‘dug and was too young to learn.’  Clearly, those people were NOT smart enough themselves to research or learn about the breed mix.  Great Pyrenees are incredibly intelligent (as are Goldens), due to their duty to guard/herd their flocks, depending only on their wits to ensure the flock’s safety.  They are calm, deliberate, gentle, yet assertive if challenged by a threatening outsider.  Hence, they make TERRIFIC family dogs.  When combined with the Golden Retriever’s pleasing personality and happy attitude, you get all the best in SOFI who is beautiful to boot!

JERA

ADOPTED!

This is Jera and she is twelve weeks old (as of 5/21/06) and is a Shepard mix. Jera was rescued by a Good Samaritan when he saw her collapse in his front yard. He brought her inside and kept her safe until Guardian Angel could get to her. When we did we were afraid we were too late. Jera could no longer stand and was so dehydrated and full of worms that her gums were pure white. Thankfully her angel did not give up and now Jera is on the road to recovery. She is so affectionate and loves to chew her bones (as you can see from her picture). She is still very under weight and her food intake will have to be monitored for some time yet but she has shown us that she is not ready to give up and is looking for her forever family.

MACI

ADOPTED

Hi! My name is Maci. I’m a loveable little terrier mix. My foster mom thinks I’m between 1 and 2 years old; I can’t tell her, cuz I don’t remember my birthday. I’m 15 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh a very ladylike 20 pounds. I’m a low maintenance girl as I’m crate-trained, housebroken and heartworm negative; as well as spayed and up-to-date on all my shots and heartworm preventative. I get along with all sizes of people, but I simply must bark at them first to introduce myself. I’m a fun-loving girl. I REALLY like to play with my foster family’s dogs. I can play longer than any of them. I also like to play fetch with anybody who will throw toys for me. I would love to find a home with a doggie friend; but I would be okay with humans only. I’m ready for a forever home. Are you the family for me?

Winston

WINSTON

ADOPTED!

Winston is a 6 year neutered male with medium long hair and a pink nose. His two front paws have been de-clawed. Winston thinks he is a dog and has no fear of dogs since they have traditionally been his playmates. He's very loving, entertaining and enjoys people. The ideal situation for Winston would be as an only pet for someone who wants to be the receiver of all his love. However, he gets along well with other animals and would do well in a multi-pet family. He loves dogs and would have to be introduced only to dogs that love cats. Winston is very affectionate and sits in the chair beside of his favorite human on his back haunches as to imitate human sitting behavior; however, his favorite position is sitting in your lap, or on your chest purring.
Winston loves to chat and will greet you daily at the door when you return home.

Brutus

ADOPTED!

Hi, my name is Brutus.  I am up-to-date on all of my shots, neutered, and current on heartworm preventative.  My approximate birthday is 12-1-05 and I currently weigh 35 pounds (at 7 months).  I’m not sure of my breed mix, but my mom was about 40 pounds as an adult and believed to be an Australian Shepherd mix. ("Samantha" posted above Fiona)Samantha" posted above Fiona)Samantha" posted above Fiona)Samantha" posted above Fiona)I am black with blonde markings and some tan highlights in my beautiful shiny coat.  I love to cuddle and long for your affection.  I am very attentive to my adult humans and will never be more than just a few feet behind you.  I am nervous around children, but the boy at my house is working on helping me trust them.  I prefer to sleep in my crate, as it’s what I’m used to.  I do well other dogs and don’t mind submitting if there is an alpha dog already in your home.  I’m starting to show guard dog qualities and barking at the door to let the people know we have a guest.  I won’t bark unless there’s a reason.

Oh, and did I mention…  I am housetrained!!!

~*Lexi*~

ADOPTED!

Lexi is a 1 year old Chihuahua/Rat Terrier mix. She is housebroken, crate trained and up-to-date on all of her shots. She weighs about 12 pounds and is around 12 inches tall at the shoulder. Lexi has been spayed and is heartworm negative. She is currently on Heartguard and Frontline. Lexi came to Guardian Angels as an owner surrender. She was originally adopted from an Arkansas shelter when she was about 2 months old to a family with 3 small children with the hope that her personality would lean more to the Rat Terrier part of her lineage. Alas, the Chihuahua side appears to be dominant in our sweet Lexi and she is not very good with children under the age of 10. She does get along with the other dogs in her foster home and loves to snuggle with her foster mom and dad. She is ready for a new home with no small children…are you the family she is looking for?

 ~*Riley*~

ADOPTED!

Riley is a young terrier mix from the Tipton County Shelter. She is housebroken, crate trained and up-to-date on all of her shots. She weighs about 25 pounds and is around 16 inches tall at the shoulder. Riley has been spayed and is heartworm negative. She is currently on Heartgard and Frontline. Riley is a little shy when she first meets someone, but warms up very quickly. She loves to play with all the other dogs at her foster family’s house; especially Lexi, her foster sister. She still has a lot of puppy energy; so make sure you have plenty of toys for her to play with and chew on. Riley is looking for a home with kids and/or another dog to play with her. She could be happy as an only dog; if you have the time to give her lots of attention. Are you the right family for Riley?

ALCATRAZ

ADOPTED!

Hi. My name is Alcatraz. I'm about 2 years old and I'm a little girl. I'm grey and brown with black stripes. My first family found me and my sister but decided they only wanted to keep my sister. I lived outside with their dog for about a year eating the dog's food and other food people would put out for me. Last fall, they moved away and just left me. The people next door fed me and loved on me and took me in when it iced over really bad in December but they can't keep me. I'm very affectionate and I love to be around people and ice cream. However, I'm nervous around big dogs. I'm fully litter trained. I'll love you forever if you love on me as much as you can. I'm ready to find a new and forever home.

TAZZIE

Adopted!

Hi, my name is Tazzie.  I am up-to-date on all of my shots, spayed, and current on heartworm preventative.  I currently weigh 25lbs. (will likely be less than 30lb when full grown) and my approximate birthday is October 2005.  It is believed I am a Chow (I have a lovely blue tongue.) / Manchester Terrier mix.  I love to cuddle and have become very spoiled about sleeping in the bed with my humans.  I do well with children and I have no problem living with other dogs.  I walk well on a leash, but will take you for a chase through the neighborhood if you let me off the leash.  I love wrestling with the other puppies in my foster home, playing tug-o-war with rope toys, and taking drives in the car while sitting in your lap.  Oh, and did I mention…  I am housetrained!!!   click here for more photos

New forever family

Adopted!

This is Roscoe. He is about 1 year old, weighs 30 pounds, stands 14 inches tall at the shoulder, neutered and heartworm free. This guy came to us because a nice neighbor asked for help when his family moved away and left him to run free and fend for himself. When he was picked up from the neighbor he was covered in fleas and ticks but had no idea he should have been miserable. He is very friendly and has quickly adjusted to indoor life. He loves lounging in his foster Mom’s lap and is house trained to a doggie door. He is just an absolutely loveable boy and gets along with everybody (dogs and people).

   AUSTIN

Adopted!

Hello, my name is Austin .  I am a handsome adult male, approximately 3 years old, in search of a forever family to call my own.  I was rescued from the Tipton Animal Shelter by a Guardian Angel in June.  I am neutered (very important), up-to-date on shots, and heartworm negative.  I get along with other dogs really well and love to ride in the car.  I am just a pleasure to have around.  I weigh approximately 40 lbs.  We are not absolutely sure, but I appear to be a Border Collie/Bassett mix.  If you are looking for a wonderful family dog, you can’t miss with me.

Adopted!

This puppy wandered its way into my backyard and is looking for a home.  It looks to me like a mix of a rat terrier and a Chihuahua.  However, when it stands at attention it looks like a miniature pinscher!  She appears to be a puppy, but I am not certain of her age.  She has a scar that indicates to me she has been fixed.  She is a playful dog with tons of energy, but she is looking for a lap to lay in when it comes time to sleep.  She gnaws occasionally but is not a biter!  There have been occasional bathroom issues in the house, but she appears to be trainable in that respect.  She plays well with other dogs and does not appear to be territorial around other animals.  She has no problems staying outside during the day and sleeping in a spacious cage at night.  I would love to keep her myself, but my schedule does not permit me the time to care for her.

Rusty

Adopted!

This handsome lug is Rusty Anchor and he is as sweet tempered in real life as he is in this picture. Rusty came to Guardian Angel by way of owner seizure. His family forced Rusty to live underneath their home and he was constantly covered in fleas and other parasites. They did nothing to contain him in their yard so he was hit by vehicles on two separate occasions. But the past is just that and Rusty is now clean, happy, and so full of love. Rusty Anchor is kennel trained, house broken and knows his basic commands. He walks well on a leash but more important he is so sweet tempered and just wants to please people. He loves to cuddle and be close to his foster parents. It is like he knows just how bad he had it in the early years of his life.

SPOT & FLUFFY

Both Adopted!

(with Mike & Mandy from WRVR "The River" radio station during a Wet Nose Wednesday Segment)

Spot & Fluffy are about 5 months old and are border collie mixes (we think). They are both very loveable, playful, energetic and enjoy playing chase, fetching, exploring and water! Spot & Fluffy do not know what a stranger is: they will play with any cat, dog or human that will let them. They know how to sit on command, come running to you when called and are working on stay on command. Spot weighs about 35 pounds and Fluffy weighs about 30 pounds so far. They love to be around people and do not bark much. Spot & Fluffy are looking for an active home possibly with children or other pets and can be adopted separate or together.

If you feel that you have the qualifications for this position, please fill out the online application and I will get back with you. I can assure you that I would make a very loving companion for your family.

P.S. I LOVE KIDS!

ADOPTED!             Photo by Renee Scott Photography

She was hit by a car 4 months ago but now is looking and feeling great.

Thanks to all that sent in donations!!

Millie is now completely healed. She is about 1 1/2 years old. She is
very strong and can run and play very fast. She plays well with some
dogs, but is particular. I have one dog out of 3 that does not like
Millie and Millie does not like her. We keep them separated. The 2
others are smaller than her and they have a ball. She also plays with
our cats. She chases them, but only to play. One of our cats actually
teases her and plays back with her. It would have to be a trial to make
sure if you have other dogs or cats that they are compatible. She is fun
to play with and very affectionate. She tosses her toys in the air and
catches them. She is crate trained and house broken. She is very smart
and will walk on a leash, but hasn't gone on walks very much. Like I
said, she is very strong and may be too boisterous for a small child,
but loves children.

ANDY

ADOPTED!

Andy is a blue heeler w/ perhaps Australian Shepherd. His weight now is approximately 13#---15#. We expect him to be medium size at 50#---65# when grown.   He is a good looking dog with fantastic markings. He should be easily trained because he listens well for being so young. He loves affection and praise.

MATTIE

ADOPTED!

Mattie is believed to be a Retriever/Shepherd mix.  She is 5 years old, UTD on shots, spayed, and heartworm negative.  Mattie used to have a home, but her owner passed away, and the owners family turned her, her Boxer sister, and two cat siblings over to the Tipton County Animal shelter.  Everyone got adopted but Mattie.  The shelter staff tried to keep her for as long as possible looking for that special home, so Mattie stayed at the shelter for 4 months and still hasn't found that special person to claim as her human.  She is a very good girl, never barks, and loves to go for walks. She gets a little scared in new situations, so it would be best if she could find a quiet home without a lot of frenzied activity, and probably not have small children around.

ELVIS

ADOPTED!

Elvis was rescued behind a building on Thomas St. in Memphis on March 31.He was brought to our Metal recycling business where he stayed for a few days. We realized immediately that he was a very sweet and affectionate dog. He never growls and has a great temperament. He has been going home with the person that brought him here for the last few days. He has been neutered, is heartworm neg. and has all his shots. He loves people and likes to sit next to you in the car, mainly in your lap. He is very much a licker and is very playful. He gets along with other female dogs for sure and we are finding out tonight how he is with another male dog. Elvis is small, weighing at only 32 pounds and will make a great house lap dog who will follow his master everywhere. Elvis is a great opportunity for a loving family. He will become a family member in very short time. His markings are quite unusual. One side of his face and head is white and the the other is black. He is very very cute. We think he is only about two years old.

Diego

ADOPTED!

This handsome guy is Diego and he just wandered up to one of our foster families homes one day and decided to stick around. Diego is such a sweet boy and can actually smile! He smiles the entire time he is being petted. Sadly his life before rescue must have been pretty rough because Diego flinches if you move to fast, like he expects to be hit. Hopefully in time he will out grow that. Diego is kennel trained and housebroken and has fit into his foster home like he was meant to be there. He has shown no signs of aggression with the other dogs and loves to run and play with his foster brother and sister all day long.

We rescued from Sylvia  from death row at the Tipton County TN shelter. She now has new great name to start her new great life.  :)

HALEY

ADOPTED!

This is Haley, she was found on I-40 after being dumped out of a car. She was found by her very own guardian angel and now is roughly about a year and half old. She has completed her Heartworm treatment and has had all of her shots. She loves playing with other dogs and people even more. Haley weighs about 75 lbs.

LEILAH

ADOPTED!

Hello, my name is Leilah.  I am about 1 1/2 years old, spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations.  I am a very well-mannered lady.  I am good with other dogs and I do not mind cats.  I am good with children.  I do have one pet peeve - I can eat along side someone as long as they don't snarl at me.  If that happens, I will snarl back.  Best bet would be to just let me have my own bowl.  I am looking for a home to call my home.  Don't get me wrong - I love my foster mom, but I need to find my own mom so she can save someone else.  Let's meet and see how it goes!

BOOTS

ADOPTED!

Boots is a 30 pound, 7 month old female Lab/Border Collie mix that is black with white boots on her front legs. She was rescued in February from the side of a Tipton County Road when she was only 10 weeks old. Boots is a very loving and affectionate dog that likes to follow her foster dad around. She also plays well with other dogs and rides well in the car! She is crate-trained, house-trained (will whine to let you know she needs to go outside), up to date on shots and heartworm prevention. She has already been spayed and is ready to find a family to call her own!

MADDIE

ADOPTED!

Maddie was rescued from death row at the Memphis Animal Shelter in 2003. She has a crippled front leg and ended up spending over 3  years in rescue before finding her forever family. I'm sure both Maddie and her new family would say it was well worth the wait.

SPOT

Adopted!

Most people think Spot is a funny name for an all black dog, but when you pick me up you can see a small white spot on my chest, so I guess that's where my name came from. My foster mom said  I look like a lab  with small feet.  I love all other animals, and people too, won't you take me to my forever home??

I have a wonderful Rottweiler mix dog, less than 1 year old, who needs a new home.  My husband and I took him into our home after we found him wandering the streets near our home about 6 months ago.  We took him to the vet and had him checked, treated, and neutered.  We have house trained him and crate trained him.  He knows basic commands and walks on a leash well.  He gets along with children (ages infant to teenager), adults, and various other animals.  He very rarely barks but is very playful.  While we would absolutely love to keep him with our family we simply do not have the room.  We live in a 2 bedroom townhome with 3 children and a very small yard.  He is a large breed dog and needs room to run and play.  My daughters walk him and spend time with him but he is too much for me to handle with a new baby in the house.  We did not adopt him from a rescue group or purchase him and change our minds...we simply took him in to keep him safe from being run over in the street.  We were hoping he wouldn't get much larger than he was and that we could make room for him.  It is just too crowded for a large breed dog and it is not fair to him.

CURLY

Adopted!

His name is Curly.  He is approximately 13 weeks old, retriever mix breed puppy.   He too was rescued from the Marion animal shelter with his brother King.  He's not much for being in his kennel, he'd rather romp around and tackle his brother or anything that looks fun.   He looks like a cute little lamb and  is just as sweet.

FURY

ADOPTED!

Fury is fantastic and full of energy and has been an ultimate joy to foster! She was rescued from death row at the Marion, Arkansas animal shelter.  She plays well with other dogs, she is nearly housebroken!! She absolutely adores children. She is also kennel trained! She's about 12 weeks old, and about 15 lbs. She is a gorgeous retriever mix who loves to play , and she is very intelligent. We're working on leash training her, and so far she's adapting pretty well. Fury would surely love a forever home with someone who will give her all the attention she desires!  more photos

Achilles

ADOPTED!

Achilles is a male, lab mix who was found wandering around Graceland. He is about 10-11 months old and weighs about 55 pounds. Achilles is very playful, loves to run/play in the backyard, and loves to be with you wherever he goes. He is housebroken and is very quiet when in his crate.  He knows how to sit and shake - and is currently trying to add roll-over to his bag of tricks. He is a very sweet dog who has a lot of love to give and is looking for his forever home.

JAZZY

(ADOPTED)

I am a 14 week old female Dachshund/Lab puppy looking for a forever home.  I was rescued from death row at the Hardeman County Animal Shelter. I love children and will make a great playmate.  I am up-to-date on vaccinations and have been de-wormed.  Don't I photograph well?  I am even prettier in person if possible.  If you are considering sharing your home with a new puppy, I would love to have the position.

MOCHA & LATTE

Mocha (on right ) Adopted!

Mocha was surrendered to Tipton County Animal shelter at just a few days old.  She had no mother and the litter was bottle fed by a compassionate human.  Mocha and her sister, Latte’, are the survivors from the litter.  Their birthday is May 1, 2006.  Mocha and her sister are nearly identical.  In fact, their foster mom calls them “the twins”, but there are some slight differences once you get to know them.  Mocha, has a red nose, only three paws with white tips, and a solid brown tail.  Her sister, Latte’, has a brown nose, four paws with white tips, and a white tip on her tail.  They are absolutely adorable puppies and appear to be Chesapeake Bay Retrievers (there is always the possibility of them being mixes).  They have gotten started on their puppy shots and will be spayed as soon as they are old enough.  Mocha has made a wonderful transition from her nursing human to her new foster home.  Mocha is the calmer of the two sisters.  Mocha is very curious about her surroundings and does a lot of exploration with her nose.  She is always sniffing the air, the ground, everything.  She also loves sneaking up on her sister for a good surprise attack.  She is very fond of the sprinkler or any water and shows great interest in birds.

CHECKERS

Adopted!

Hi! My name is Checkers. I’m a loveable little terrier mix that my angel rescued from the Tipton County Shelter. My foster mom thinks I’m about 1 year old; I can’t tell her, cuz I don’t remember my birthday. I’m a petite 14 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh a very ladylike 17 pounds. I’m a low maintenance girl as I’m crate-trained, housebroken and heartworm negative; as well as spayed and up-to-date on all my shots and heartworm preventative. I’m a fun-loving girl. I enjoy playing with my foster family’s dogs. I also like to play fetch with anybody who will throw toys for me. After dinner, when everything settles down, I love to snuggle up with my foster mom.

I’m ready for a forever home. Are you the family for me?

CHUBBY

Adopted!

Chubby is a Retriever mix.  He was rescued from the Tipton County Animal Shelter.  He is 3 years old, UTD on shots, neutered, and unfortunately light heartworm positive.  He is currently awaiting heartworm treatment. He is a very friendly and a very happy boy.  He loves everybody and everything.  His perfect home would be a home that could provide him lots of attention.  But due to his size and energy level, small children might not be a good idea.

BO

ADOPTED!

Bo is 1 1/2 years old.  He was found wandering the streets of Memphis starving.  He is now ready for a new home.  Bo is a big boy weighing in at 60 pounds.  He is really sweet and does not mind other dogs and cats.  Bo is very submissive and is a little nervous around men, but warms up to them if you give him some time.  He loves his squeaky toy and having his belly rubbed.  He is up to date on shots and heartworm negative.  Bo is ready for his new home, are you ready for a new and loving pet?

KING

ADOPTED!

This is King. He was rescued from the Marion, AR shelter when he was about 8 weeks old and is now a beautiful 13 week old little boy. While we were told he was part cocker he looks more like a golden retriever mix, but one things for sure he is definitely fluffy! King is already kennel trained. He is so adorable and very sweet. He likes to play with kids currently ranging from 4-10 years old, he likes other dogs, and especially his brother Curly (below). This little guy is going to be great to have around not to mention a handsome fellow.

ILENE

Adopted!

Ilene is a 3 yr old Dachshund mix that was found wandering the streets of Bartlett, TN. She is housebroken and as sweet as she can be.

TEDDY BEAR

ADOPTED!

Hello, my name is Teddy Bear.  I am an adorable Heeler/Scottish Terrier mix.  I know, I know, I look like a big poodle, but that is not the case.  I about a year old, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and neutered.  I am crate-trained and housebroken.  I have a lot of energy when I am playing with my friends, but I can be somewhat calm when it is just the two of us.  I am very submissive and can get along with anyone, hairy or human.  I love children!  I am looking for a forever home that I can love and be loved in for the rest of my life.

SHREK

ADOPTED!

Shrek along with his mother (Samantha) and 6 siblings (Fiona and Brutus are also still up for adoption) were living behind an air conditioning unit in a Frayser apartment complex. When we found them they were only a few weeks old and the hard freeze that we had near Christmas was only days away. After some TLC and vet care they are all healthy and ready find their new home! Shrek is a 6 month old blue merle possibly Australian Shepherd mix. He weighs only 30 pounds, is 17 inches tall at the shoulders and should not get much larger (his mother only weighs 38 pounds). He is neutered, up to date on shots and heartworm prevention. Shrek is such a sweet-heart; he gets along well with all of the dogs that he has met and is even gentle with small children! He is crate and house trained and rides well in the car. If you are looking for a sweet, loving, calm older puppy then you have found him!

ABBEY

ADOPTED!

Courtesy listing: Abbey was picked up as a stray on a country road. Left there, she probably would have been hit by a car. She has been vaccinated and is scheduled to be spayed soon. She is very sweet and only about 6 months old. She weighs about 35 pounds and will be around 40 pounds when she is mature. She is crate trained and gets along with other dogs. Call Kim Christopher at 757-0857 for more information on Abbey. She needs a home!

TOFFEE

ADOPTED!

My name if Toffee, and being cute is my game.  It is said my heritage is Chihuahua, although at a whopping 13lbs I'm a tad large for my breed. I am definitely a house dog, I love to be inside with my people to play with my toys and snuggle up when I'm tired. I have a solid toffee colored coat with a small white patch on my chest, one of my best features are my eyes they are a stunning amber. I got that house training thing down now, I know it goes outside, my housemates taught me that, I just followed along.  I like kids, other dogs, and cats, however the cat in this house does not like me, you think it's because I chase her and bark at her?  I just want to play!  Life is pretty darn good now at my foster home; I hardly remember when I was a stray in the Raleigh area, hungry, sick and full of itchy biting bugs.  All I need now is a forever home, where I can be loved, and return that love tenfold.  Come and meet me; you will not be able to resist my charms.

JOSH

Adopted!

Hello, my name is Josh, my brother (Konas) and I were being dumped at the Hardeman County Animal Shelter when a nice lady stopped my old family (from doing the unthinkable) and saved us. I am a Bassett/Boxer mix, neutered, and up-to-date on vaccinations.  I am nothing short of adorable.  I am 4 months old and weight 15 lbs. I am really close to being housebroken, but I am a puppy so you will need to be diligent about taking me out.  I get along with other dogs and cats and love all people - young and old alike. I am a well-mannered little guy. If you decide to check me out, you will find that I am definitely a keeper.

GUENTHER

ADOPTED!

Hi, my name is Guenther.   I am a 2 year old shepherd/lab mix with a secret passion for fuzzy squeaky toys.   Everywhere I go, I have to carry one with me.   It's a good thing I'm such a big boy, so my other dog friends don't dare make fun of me.   I was seen running down Stage Rd. with a good friend of mine on a regular basis. A vet clinic tried for a few weeks to catch me, but what they didn't know was that I lived just around the corner and took myself for a walk every day, since no one else cared enough about me to do it.   Once I decided to stop by the clinic with my friend and they saw we had ID tags, they called my "owners" who said to keep us b/c we were too much trouble to keep in the yard.   That's b/c we HAD NO FENCE!!!   I am a very polite boy who is calm and quiet.   I love to play with other dogs and am kennel trained.   I am neutered, current on all shots, housebroken, nondestructive, and heartworm negative.

Everyone jumps when she says to and we all fight over who gets to sit by her and hold her. We have decided she really has royal blood and you guys just didn't tell us. She has added lots of joy to our home. I am forwarding a couple of pics so ya'll can see her in her element. Thanks for loving animals!!!

MACY

ADOPTED!

Macy is about 6 months old and a chocolate lab, probably mixed a little with something else since she is small.  She is a beautiful milk chocolate with beautiful almost translucent eyes.  Very sweet and loving, great with kids and other dogs.  Was a little leery at first of my 2 chocolates but they are great friends now and play as though they were raised together.  She has met and played with several neighborhood dogs so I think the leeriness was due to her being shuffled around.  She walks well on a leash and does great in crowds and around strange dogs.  Macy is housebroken and crate trained as far as I can tell.  I have given her free reign of our home on multiple occasions without incident.  Sleeps through the night, no barking.  Macy has NOT been taught the basics - sit, stay, come.  She is easily trained though and has already learned to sit and comes most of the time when called with very little training effort. It appears that whomever had her had no time for her.  Macy is not your typical lab, she is much more gentle, in comparison to my 6 month old chocolate, she is elegant and and prissy while Bree is a bull in a china shop.  The only flaw I have seen in her beyond the training basics which are easily remedied is that she gets car sick. It seems that she has had little car riding experience and it makes her queasy.  Doesn't seem to matter if she is in a crate or on my lap but the poor thing very politely throws up in a towel and looks up at me so pitifully. We have only had her 6 days so I think that this too is something that multiple car rides would change.  She is not scared in a car at all.  Overall, she is a great dog, we would keep her if 2 boys and 2 chocolates weren't already more than we can handle.  Would love to see her with a family and kids, she really would be a great family pet.

PEPPER

ADOPTED!

Hi, my name is Pepper.  I am all black with a beautiful coat and a big fluffy tail.  Best guess is that I am a Sheltie/Flat-Coat Retriever mix.  My approximate birthday is November 2004.  I am now 18 months old and only 37 pounds.  My owner, due to allergy problems of a new family member, recently surrendered me and I am now looking for a new family to share my love with.  I get along with dogs, cats, and children so I would be the perfect match for any home.  I am housetrained, have lots of energy, and love to play fetch.  I also appear to be an excellent watch-dog and will bark at the door should anyone come to close.  My foster mom is still getting to know me and will send further updates as she learns more about my wonderful personality.  You can meet me at Bartlett Petco adoption days or call Guardian Angel Pet Rescue for a personal appointment.  Fill out an application for me now.  I’m eager to meet you.

RED

ADOPTED!

Hi, my name is Red, I am a cattle dog mix and a new addition to the Guardian Angel Pet Rescue family.  I spent about three months in the Marion Shelter and my days were numbered, when one of the Angels swooped on over and rescued me.  I am approximately 2 years old, weigh a little over 25 pounds, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and spayed.  I am crate trained, house trained and have a very gentle disposition and get along with other dogs and cats.  I am one of those adorable dogs that you just want to squeeze and have a very unique coat pattern of red, black, blue and tan. So, if you think you might want to give my foster mom a call or fill out an adoption application and set up a visit to meet me; that would be lovely!

OZZY

ADOPTED!

Ozzy is a Pekingese/Spaniel mix, about 2 years old, weighs 10 pounds. He was rescued before being euthanized at the Tipton County Animal Shelter in February. Ozzy is up to date on his shots, neutered, heartworm negative and crate trained. He gets along great with other dogs, cats and children! If you rub Ozzy's belly while holding him like a baby he will fall asleep. So, if you are looking for a very sweet and loving dog to hold in your arms like a baby you have found him!

ZEKE

ADOPTED!

I am a little lab mix boy - about 14 weeks old.  I have a very loving and sweet temperament and I love to play.  So, if you have children, I would be a great companion.  Of course, I am too young to be completely housebroken, but I will work with you and do my best.  I am really looking forward to having my very own family.  I am up-to-date on vaccinations and have been dewormed.

LUCILLE

ADOPTED!

Hello, my name is Lucille.  I am an adult female Beagle.  It is not nice to ask women their age, but I am about 2 years old.  I am a wonderful companion if you want a couch potato.  I am sweet and very affectionate and get along well with other dogs and cats.  I would make a wonderful companion.  I am up-to-date on all my shots and I am spayed.  I did test positive for heartworms, but low positive.  I will start treatment next week.

 MISSY

ADOPTED!

Look at this face!!!  How can you resist?  I am the happiest dog - and I don't have much to be happy about at this point.  Just wait until you take me home.  I am about 9 months old, up-to-date on vaccinations, and heartworm negative.  And before I come to live at your house I will be spayed.  I have a wonderful temperament with all the endearing Border Collie characteristics.  C'mon - give me a chance.  You won't be sorry.

Charlie

ADOPTED!

Charlie is my name and cuddling is my game!

Charlie is an approx. 5 year old male Lhasa Poo – looks like a lhasa head on a miniature poodle body. He weighs ~18 lbs– needs to gain about 3 lbs. Charlie is charming, very loving, very eager to please, playful but NOT hyper. He loves the 2 other dogs in his foster home as well as the 2 cats. He is good with children over 8. He is impeccably house trained & Current on shots & is neutered. He is slightly heartworm positive, but will be resolved with 12 months of heartworm preventive.  NOT sick enough to endure risk of full-blown hw treatment. Charlie entered rescue after the Memphis Animal Shelter contacted a GAPR angel to see if she would rescue this slightly hw positive angel dog.  Today, Charlie is being fostered by a GAPR foster family whose breed expertise is Lhasa Apso.  In their estimation, Charlie’s best forever home will be one where he can be a cherished member of the family and can love and be loved for the rest of his life.  He’s got the perfect mix of poodle charm and intelligence and the Lhasa Apso people orientation.  His personality is MORE poodle than Lhasa.  Charlie requires a fenced yard.   His forever family will have to guarantee his heartworm preventative will be given timely and accurately and that GAPR will be provided with a heartworm test after 12 months of heartworm preventative to assess his health status so if further treatment is required that GAPR can ensure that Charlie’s long term health is protected

Dixie

ADOPTED!

(slightly special needs)

Dixie is an approximately 5 yr old female Lhasa Apso. She is charming, very loving & has the typical Lhasa aloofness to strangers. She is a bit on the quiet, calm side….not overly playful.  She  loves the 2 other dogs in her foster home as well as the 2 cats.  She is  Impeccably house trained and is spayed & current on vaccinations. Dixie’s right eye never developed, so  she has never known what it’s like to see with both eyes.    Her vision is PERFECT in her left eye.  Dixie entered rescue after the  Memphis Animal Shelter contacted a GAPR angel to see if she would rescue this owner surrendered beauty.  Today,  Dixie is being fostered by a GAPR foster family whose breed expertise is Lhasa Apso.  In their estimation, Dixie’s best forever home will be one where she can be a cherished member of the family and can love and be loved for the rest of her life.  Dixie is cool toward strangers at first, but once she knows you—NOTHING can stop a full blown tail wagging, face smiling greeting.  Dixie loves to ride in the car….and is convinced you’ve come to see only her and to take her for an excursion.  SO—‘have Dixie, will travel’ will be your new motto.   Dixie’s favorite spot is resting quietly at her foster mom’s feet.  OR in the kitchen supervising her foster dad as he ‘prepares’ her meal.  She is somewhat of a chow hound….be prepared to carefully manage her caloric intake!  Dixie has not been ‘kid tested’ yet….but Lhasa Apso’s are not as crazy about kids as some other breeds.  Don’t rule children out yet….but be prepared that she may not accept all children she meets.  Dixie requires a fenced yard.   She is perfectly leash trained.  She loves the fenced back yard at her foster parents home.  She finds enough seclusion there to privately tend her daily business, instead of having to do so publicly while out walking.  After all, she IS a lady of the finest kind.

HEATHER

ADOPTED!

Heather is a small Sheltie mix (approx. 14 pounds) who is about 5 years old. She was surrendered to the Tipton County shelter by her original owners, and it was obviously not a good home! She is very timid and shy around new people and hid in the corner of our house for the first week she was staying with us. She was terrified of EVERYTHING! Now that she has learned to trust us, the sweetest, most loyal little dog has emerged. She is especially shy around men at first, but now she loves my husband to distraction! She loves to cuddle in your lap and just be near you.  She just needs a family who will take the time to let her trust you. She likes other dogs, and cats, and kids just fine, but would much prefer a quieter home. It won't take long for her to love you, she just needs you to give her a chance!!

SAMSON

ADOPTED!

This sweet little cocker spaniel is Samson.  He is approximately 1 years old.  He was rescued from a puppy mill and is still learning to trust people, but his foster mom thinks he is going to come around just fine.  Samson will do best in home with an older couple or a family with older children who can be very patient in earning his trust.  A home with another dog would also be ideal to help show him the ropes.  Samson is up to date on his shots, heartworm negative, and neutered.

FRED & GEORGE

ADOPTED!

Fred & George were found abandoned in a subdivision. They are extremely adorable, affectionate, and full of personality.  Fred (pointed ears) is outgoing and adventurous.  He loves to explore, play, and he especially loves to jump up and give cut little kisses.  George (floppy ears) is so very cuddly.  He loves to lay in your lap and be brushed or petted for long periods of time.  He will fall asleep in your arms like a baby. We would love to keep these two guys together if at all possible as they are siblings who get along marvelously.  They eat, sleep, and play together and are a pleasure to watch.   They are not housebroken yet, so they will require a little training; however, they do naturally use the newspaper while indoors and will let you know when they need to go out.  Also, please be aware that they really like to dig under fences.  So, you will have to keep your eyes on them when you do let them out and make sure block any small openings under your fence.

BROOKE

ADOPTED!

I am adorable.  I about about 6 months old, up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed, and on heartworm preventative.  I am part Chihuahua and part Dachshund - or at least that is our best guest.  I am sweet, loving and get along with dogs of all sizes.  I am okay with cats also.  I would make a wonderful companion.  Not sure if I like children - haven't had any experience yet.

DONNY

ADOPTED!

Donnie is a young lab mix. We think he might have terrier or hound in him too. He is  both crate and house trained! He is very calm and loves to watch TV. He gets along well with cats, ferrets & other dogs. He is submissive so he will easily fit into a multiple dog home. He's not hyper. Sometimes he snores. He has a curled up tail, loves to sleep in bed with  you and your cats and other dogs. Loves to snuggle, rides well in a car . Likes to play with stuffed animals. Walks well on leash.

Mollie

ADOPTED!

Mollie is a Catahoula Cattle Dog.  She is about two years old.  Mollie was found wandering the streets of Olive Branch and was rescued by the Olive Branch Humane Society.  Finally, an angel noticed her wonderful demeanor and rescued her.  Mollie is now in a loving foster home.  She has successfully completed heartworm treatment and is now heartworm negative.  Mollie is very smart and learns quickly.  She is crate trained, spayed, and house broken.  She is 21 inches tall and weighs 40lbs.  She loves to cuddle, hardly ever barks and would make a wonderful family dog.  She would definitely require a fenced backyard to play in.  Mollie is okay around other dogs if she can be the alpha dog or she would be perfect as an only dog.  If Mollie were a human, she would be Mrs. Cravitz (nosy neighbor from Bewitched) because she loves to climb the woodpile in the backyard and peer over the top of the fence to see what the neighbors are doing!  She has a sweet personality and her foster family love her very much!  Please consider Mollie if something is missing from your family!

ADOPTED!

Hello, my name is Puppy Girl.  I am a 1.5 year old Aussie mix with brindle markings.  I am only about as tall as your knees and I weigh in at 31 lbs. full grown.  I am looking for a good permanent home.  My owner passed away recently and now I am homeless.  I am in a foster location right now but I have to stay outside and I am not an outside kinda girl!  I am house trained and obey very well.  Since I have Aussie in me, I am truly smart and have a fondness of sitting in chairs just like my human.  I have been spayed and have all of my shots.  I was mistreated in the past by a man and so I am shy around them but I do warm up quickly.  I love women and children who treat me well.  I get along with other dogs but I especially like cats for friends.  I need a home with a nice warm bed to sleep in and a good backyard to play in.

Jenna is absolutely adorable! She is a tiny kitten only a few weeks old. She was found in South Memphis hiding under a Habitat For Humanity trailer with no mom or siblings. She was malnourished and had been bitten on the face by another animal. We picked her up, and she immediately began to purr and love on us. She loves to be held and rubbed. She is current on all shots and is ready to find a forever home that will love her and take care of her.

GABBY

ADOPTED!

Gabby is a wonderful spayed female up to date on shots around a year old. She weighs about 40 pounds, is 21 inches tall at the shoulders and has beautiful silky black coat. A caring family saw a dirty dog wandering in the middle of Jackson Avenue in early January and stopped to help her. She was timid, had a mark around her neck from being tied out and looked to have recently had a litter of pups. Gabby came up to the family and was hungry for attention; they walked her around the area to see if anything looked familiar to her but she did not give any indication that she knew where she was. They took her home for the night, posted signs the next day as well as a free found dog ad in the newspaper; but no such luck in locating her previous owners. They took Gabby to their vet to get some intestinal dewormer and heartworm tested; NO HEARTWORMS! The family contacted Guardian Angel Pet Rescue for help and said they would be willing to foster her until her forever home is found. Gabby is now housebroken, sleeps in a kennel at night and loves to be petted, play with children and the neighbors dogs. Gabby walks well on a leash and is usually a quiet dog; she does bark if someone knocks on the door that she does not recognize. Gabby will make some lucky family a loving pet; fill out an application or call to meet her today!

RASCAL

ADOPTED!

Hi, my name is Rascal.   I'm a sweet, young Sheltie/Cattle dog mix.  I'm a true attention lover but don't mind sharing the attention with other dogs.   I am great with adults, but I would love kids to play with too.   I know we would have lots of fun together, since I love all types of activities, from long walks to snoozing on the couch.  I enjoy car rides and especially love trips to the pet store.   At about 1 year old I am full grown, so no size surprises, but you still get lots of the puppy love I have left.   I am neutered, current on shots and heartworm negative.

DARLA

ADOPTED!

Hi! My name is Rodney. I was rescued from the Tipton County Shelter. I’m a terrier mix about 1 year old; I’m about 14 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh about 18 pounds. I’m crate-trained, housebroken and heartworm negative; and I’m neutered and up-to-date on my shots. I like playing with the other dogs here at my foster family’s house; but my favorite thing to do is to chase my tail!!  One of these days I’m gonna catch it!! I’m ready for a forever home. Are you the family for me?

Fido

ADOPTED!

Hi, my name is Fido (Rocky’s Brother).  I am up-to-date on all of my shots, neutered, and current on heartworm preventative.  My approximate birthday is 10-1-05.  It is believed I will be a large dog when I grow up, perhaps 60-65lbs.  I have been told I may be a shepherd/lab cross, but the important thing is that it appears I have taken the best traits from both of my parents and turned out to be incredibly cute.  I love to cuddle, play, and watch my foster mom cook.  I do well with children and I have no problem living with other dogs.  I love wrestling with the other puppies in my foster home.  I am a natural watchdog and already alert the family of anyone who comes to close to our home or us.  I am working on my housetraining and making progress everyday.

Adopted dog Sandy

In March 2005, we adopted Sandy from an adoption day at the Germantown Petco.  She is the BEST dog!  She has truly become a member of the family and I take her with me whenever I can.  She loves to go with me in the car and LOVES to hang her head out the window.  She brings such joy and happiness to our lives. My children (who are 11 and 13) love having a dog and they all play together, whether it be running through the house or chasing Sandy around the yard. We enjoy spoiling her and she no longer thinks that she needs to sleep on the floor; but, rather, sleeps on the couch, the big leather chair or our bed.  She is the queen! We want to thank you for all the work you do and for rescuing Sandy so that we could adopt her.  I am daily thankful for her presence in our lives.

Sincerely,

Stephanie Aldrich

Hi everyone…..I’m sure you remember sweet
Sammy.  We adopted him in 2004 and it’s now been a year and half since we were blessed to have Sammy join our family.  It was rocky in the beginning with our other family member Kramer, by him being a siamese cat he was not happy at all with the addition.  As you see in the picture, they are doing just fine now and Sammy also loves his best friend next to him on the floor, he goes nowhere without him.  So just a quick note of thanks to all of you at Angel Rescue, we are so grateful to you for the joy you have brought into our lives.  It is a wonderful thing that you all do and should feel very proud of yourselves!!

Sincerely,

Misti & Chadd Salter

Hello!

I adopted Lil Mo last year from Guardian Angel Pet Rescue.  He is truly a blessing!  We renamed him Payton and he's doing great.  Although he was a little skittish when I first got him, we have bonded tremendously and he is the greatest dog ever.  I've taken him on three car trips back to the East Coast where my extended family fell in love with him as well.  He's even warming up to strangers.  He is so good with other animals and kids.  Thank you SO MUCH for such a wonderful dog.  Best of luck in your great work.

HALLIE

ADOPTED!

Hey!
We are so happy to report that Granny is loving little Hallie. And now we finally have a picture available for you!  You would not recognize Hallie as the easy-going, lovable kitty.  Granny has already spoiled her to the point that no one else would want her.  We kept her for almost two weeks to let her adjust to our pets.  We got so attached to her, it was hard to let her go!  Within a day or two after her arriving at her permanent home, Granny called me all upset, saying that Hallie must have somehow gotten out and was gone.  She was beside herself with grief.  I could not think of a way for Hallie to get out of a locked house, so told her to be patient.  Several long hours later, she finally found Hallie in a Lazy Susan in a cabinet.  Well, Granny was so relieved that she decided to spoil her rotten.  Hallie has started sitting on her back paws while holding up her front paws (I never saw her do that at our house).  Granny decided that she does this because she doesn't like her cat food, so Granny will only give her one flavor of cat food out of the entire case of cat food cans.  After a few days, she decided to give another flavor to Hallie and Hallie took her paws and knocked the cat food out of the dish!  I have never seen a cat train someone so quickly.  Granny just gushes about her cat and they are together constantly when Granny is at home.  Hallie sits with Granny all of the time and Granny brushes her a lot. Granny just thinks her cat is so much better, sweeter, and more beautiful than any other cat in the universe.  She doesn't know what she ever did without her.  She said absolutely no one would ever take her cat from her. I do understand the connection with Hallie.  When we had her, Ashton got sick for a few days.   Hallie stayed right by her side until she was well again.  Ashton's cat just kind of looked at her like, "Why are you here during the day?"  We were very sad when she went to live full time at Granny's house. So Dana, rest assured, Hallie has found her home.  If there is reincarnation, I want to come back as Granny's cat!

Wet Nose Wednesday - Parker

ADOPTED!!

Every Wednesday at 8:40, Guardian Angel Pet Rescue joins the Mike and Mandy show to showcase a special animal that needs a good home.

Parker is a stray that was picked up by Bartlett Animal Control - he was ‘left’ in the dog park next to the shelter on September 18. He has been patiently waiting for a new home ever since. He is a lab mix and weighs about 60 pounds. He is about 22 inches tall at the shoulder, and about 3 years old. He is already neutered, up to date on his shots, and is heartworm negative! Parker is a very sweet, friendly, nice boy and he is READY TO GO!! Now he just needs a good home where he has a big fenced yard and has someone to play with - he LOVES to play ball! Parker will sit on command and gets along well with other dogs and cats.

Hi--I'm the mom who adopted Shiloh (now named Lennox).

I've attached a recent picture of Lennox; as you can see from his expression, he's a lot happier now. :-) About 1 month after we adopted him, another foundling crossed our paths, a 2 month old puppy. People thought we were nuts for adopting a puppy because Lennox was such a high maintenance dog when we first got him. But it turned out to be the best therapy possible for both dogs. Bella socialized Lennox better than we ever could have. She taught him how to catch balls, chew on toys and play chase. They are such good friends now. Lennox was definitely worth the work we put into him. He is now such a loving, snuggly furbaby and we love him so much.

ANGEL
Angel is a beautiful orange tabby who needs a forever home. Her owners moved away and left her in their abandoned home. A neighbor brought her to the Tipton County Animal Shelter as she was giving birth to kittens. GAPR rescued them from the shelter the next day. Everyone seemed to be fine for the first week, and then unfortunately, Angel developed an upper respiratory infection. Within several days, Angel was very dehydrated and had to be put on IV fluids and antibiotics. The virus claimed the lives of all three of her babies. She has now recovered and is a wonderful cat. She loves to be held and snuggle at bedtime. She gets along very well with children, and other cats and dogs. She will make a great addition to any family.

ISABELLE

Adopted!

Isabelle is a great little dog! She is a mixed breed and weighs about  30lbs- she might have a little terrier in her but looks like a miniature shepherd.   She is rather quiet and a little independent at times, but that just makes it more special when she climbs up in your lap for a good cuddle. She does well in a crate and is house trained.   Isabelle is looking for a forever family to give her lots of love. She would fit in perfectly with any kind of family- babies, kids, dogs, cats, or even a person who is just as independent as she is!!!

Subject:  Dedmon from Furry Friends

I just wanted to let you know that Dedmon from Furry Friends has found a permanent home.  I was his foster mommy through the Humane Society for about five minutes before I fell hopelessly in love with him.  It took my husband about 3 days before the same thing happened and we officially adopted him less than a week after he arrived at our home.  He is one of the best behaved dogs I’ve ever had and he is such a happy dog.  He is getting along with our other dogs as well although I think he misses his playmates at Furry Friends.  Our dogs are older and not quite as playful as Dedmon. Here’s a picture.  You can tell he’s spoiled already.

MOMMY

adopted!

Hi, my name is Mommy.  I am almost 3 years old and have been a mom at least once that we know of.  I was found homeless with my 3 month old daughter Lucy and it looked as if I had fought many battles while on the streets.  A piece of one of my ears had been completely torn off.   The people who have rescued me tell me it adds character.   I am a typical German Shepherd - I have a strong personality around other animals, but I am just a big mush around people.   I prefer to live with male dogs, but I do get along with female dogs if I can be the boss.   During my alone time, I am very well behaved in my kennel.   I feel safe in there and I know no one can steal my treats if they are in there with me!   I am spayed, current on all shots and heartworm negative.

Barron

Adopted!

Barron is a male, Shepard mix who is about 4 months old. He was found abandoned and was taken in by one of our volunteers. Barron is a sweet boy who loves other dogs that he can run, wrestle and play with. He is crate-trained and housebroken. He is a great puppy who always has his tail wagging. He would be a great addition to any family!

PRINCE

ADOPTED!

Prince-His name is actually Prince Moose…he is very agile for his very large size, prancing around like he’s a prince, not to mention he is as big as a moose weighing in between 80-85 lbs with possibly more to come.  His size and deep bark would scare anyone off.  He is only one year old and is definitely still puppy.   He is German Shepherd/Husky/Rotweiler mix.  Prince is very, very sweet and affectionate and loves to play with kids ages 8 and under.  Kennel trained.

BRANDI

Adopted!

Hi! My name is Brandi. I was rescued from the Tipton County Shelter. I think I’m an Italian greyhound (cute as a bug!!) but I don’t know much about my parents. My mom had me about a year ago (but I’m not really sure). I’m about 15 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh about 18 pounds. I’m crate-trained, housebroken and heartworm negative; and I’m spayed and up-to-date on my shots. I like playing inside with the other dogs here at my foster family’s house; I really like to play until I am tired then snuggle with my foster mom. I’m ready for a forever home. Are you ready for a bundle of joy like me?

SHELBY

ADOPTED!

I am Shelby.  I think I am part Sheltie and part Border Collie.  I am a very shy little girl at first, but it doesn't take me long to warm up to females and older children.  It takes me longer to warm up to men.  Younger children make me a little nervous at first, but I would probably get over that with time.  I am looking for a forever home that will be patient with me until I can feel secure.  I am heartworm negative and up-to-date on vaccinations and I was recently spayed.

PIPER

ADOPTED!

Hi, I am Piper. I am a 6-month-old lab mix. I have the most incredibly
soft coat of fur. I am very affectionate and lovable, but I am somewhat
skittish with strangers. My new foster mom is working with me on my
social skills. She is teaching me to trust. She is the best! I am
up-to-date on shots, HW negative and spayed. I would probably work out
best in a home with adults or older children as younger ones make me
somewhat nervous.

SPENCER

Adopted!

Spencer is a boxer mix and is between 8 months and a year old. He weighs about 35 pounds and is 19 inches tall at the shoulders. He has a great personality and would make a wonderful companion. He gets along well with other dogs and is good with children. He is up-to-date on shots, heartworm negative and has recently been neutered. If you are looking for a fairly calm, very sweet and loving dog Spencer is the one for you!

ANGUS

ADOPTED!

Angus is a six-month-old shepherd mix.  He was found stray on the streets of Memphis .  He is an absolute sweetheart and very submissive.  He loves to sit right beside you and watch television and veg out.  He is up-to-date on shots and will be neutered in the next couple of weeks.  If you are in the market for a great family dog, this would be the one!

MISSY

adopted!

Missy is about 7 weeks old and is probably a lab mix.  She has had her first set of shots and been de-wormed.  Her mother was hit by a car and Missy was the only one of the litter with her at the time and was picked up by a Good Samaritan and brought to Guardian Angel Pet Rescue.

 CHIPMUNK

adopted!

Chipmunk:  This little guy is tan all over with some black underlay on his back, hence his name.  He is very, very cute and sweet.  Being  9 weeks old he is the feistiest of his bunch.  And even though he is the smallest in his family he lets himself be heard when being picked on.  He has a Chihuahua look to him, but not sure of his background.  Chipmunk loves to be carried around and go places with you.  He gets carried around by 4,   6, and 7 year olds regularly.

RUBY

Adopted!

Hello, my name is Ruby. I am a very well-mannered two-year-old Basenji mix. I have been through obedience school and was at the top of the class. I have spent the last couple of years with a wonderful family who adopted me after I was rescued from the Memphis Animal Shelter by the angels. They have taken wonderful care of me, but they have another companion who is very aggressive towards me and they want me to be in a better situation. I am up-to-date on shots, heartworm negative and on preventative and I have been spayed. I am housebroken. I get along with dogs, cats and people. I would make a wonderful companion. I am 25+ lbs. Did I say beautiful?

Maddie

ADOPTED!

This beautiful girl is Maddie; she is a 2 yr old shepherd mix. Maddie has a fantastic temperament she is very sweet and very loving, which is surprising when you think back to all the pain and suffering this young girl has gone through. When Maddie was younger she broke her front leg in two places and her “owners” at the time did not deem it important enough to fix but Maddie did not let that keep her down. She jumps, runs, and plays with the best of them even with her limp. More surprising for all she has suffered she has never lost her love and need to be around humans and to be part of a family. That is what makes Maddie so very special. Maddie loves all creatures big and small. She lives with other dogs and some cats and gets along well with them all. Maddie is very loyal and protective of her foster mom and would love to show her forever family how loyal she would be to them. Maddie is a survivor and deserves a chance to be in a home where she will loved and cared for, are you that family?

SWEETIE

Adopted!

70 lb German Shepherd female

12-18 months

April, 2005 she crawled under a house during remodel construction and had puppies.

Sweetie did not appear to have had much "good" human contact.  There have been no accidents in the house but we are very attentive to her and make sure she goes out frequently. She ignores  cats unless they jump up on a table or move across the floor.  Then she wants to chase them.  We have corrected for this and feel she will be easily adjusted to life with cats, but we would watch her carefully until fully integrated into her new home.

Jimmy was found with serious injuries. He had been mauled around the neck and the back half. His tail was practically ripped off. Jimmy is one of the sweetest cats the foster mom has had. His meow is so unusual, that I talk to him all the time so he will talk back. He loves to be held and is a snuggle bug. No idea what got a hold of him, but bet it was not a dog. He lives with 11 dogs and many times the foster mom will find him sleeping in the room with all the dogs.
