Adoption Donation of $125.00 is required at time of adoption.
We require a $25.00 refundable spay/neuter deposit for puppies that are too young for surgery.
Includes: shots, de-worming, flea control, spay/neuter, heartworm test & prevention, & ID tag.
Most of the available dogs seen on this page are in GAPR foster homes, but we do post some dogs as a courtesy to other people. Please be aware that if you do adopt a dog that is a courtesy posting & was not already in a GAPR foster home and it does not work out, you will have to keep that dog in your home until a foster home opening occurs. Foster home openings are very scarce, so please be aware of this. The dog will have to go through the same approval process and be adopted through us again.

HARLEY
My name is Harley, and I'm a female, cream-colored Shepherd mix. I'm about 18-24 months old. I was abandoned by my first mama when she moved away. Since I've been with my foster mama I've been spayed, had all of my shots, including a 3 year rabies shot, and am on heartworm preventative. I'm very playful and lovable! I like to play with the cats, but they don't seem to like me because I'm so active, I guess. I used to have a little boy to play with when I was with my first mama. I get along with the other dogs at my foster mama's house, too. Especially the boy dogs! I'm very smart and learn quickly. Please give me a chance to be your special friend!

PAWLA
Pawla is a one year old, 12 lb, female Yorkie/Terrier mix. She was rescued from the Vicksburg Humane Society with her two puppies, Jo Jo and Teddy. She is a very sweet and loving dog who would love to be a lapdog. She does have a tendency to correct other dogs that get too close to her person or in her face. She does learn to live with other dogs fine, but she will still correct them from time to time. She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations and heartworm negative. I do not crate her as she does cry, but she is housebroken and does not tear anything up. Her favorite place to sit is in a paper box on the entertainment center. She would make a great companion for someone without another dog or perhaps just one that would not be in her face.

JO JO
Jo Jo is one of the siblings of Pawla. Pawla is a Yorkie/Terrier mix. It appears that Jo Jo's Daddy might have been a Dachshund. He is a gorgeous brown color. He is four months old, neutered, and up-to-date on vaccinations. Jo Jo is the favorite little toy with all the big dogs he lives with. They love to carry him around. Jo Jo will probably not get any bigger than his mom who is about 12 lbs. He would make a great family dog.

TEDDY

RICKY

CHANTILLY

HAYES
Age: 9-10 weeks
Breed: Lab-mix
Hayes is the sweetest, little guy. A perfect companion for any child. He was
rescued in MS, and he has made it to healthy puppy-hood. He loves to be held
and cuddled by humans. He's just waiting to share his puppy kisses with
someone...

Morgan
Age: 9-10 weeks
Breed: Lab-mix
Morgan is a miracle. He was rescued from the MS winter. Despite being the
"runt", he fought through mange. And now he has a clean bill of health and a
new lease on life! He loves to play, and he is 100% puppy! This guy deserves a
loving home,
please give him a chance.

FENDER
Age: 9-10 weeks
Breed: Lab-mix
Fender may be a mix-breed, but he is "100% lab". He was rescued in MS, and
he has adapted unbelievably. He is the Alpha of the litter. He is always
ready to play. This guy needs his human companions. If you've been looking
for a lab puppy, then look no further!

TINKER
This is Tinker. She is a three-year-old female Cocker Spaniel/Springer Spaniel mix. Her family discovered last year that their oldest son is allergic to dogs. He has been taking weekly allergy shots along with daily medication to help him, but our doctor told us in January that we needed to find a new home for Tinker. She is a truly wonderful dog and deserves a great home. Tinker is housebroken, and extremely affectionate. She's great with kids and gets along really well with other dogs. I've never had her around cats, so I'm not sure how she'd react. Please give this wonderful dog a home.

DOLLY AND BLUE VELVET
Dolly and Blue Velvet are two siblings from an accidental litter of a German Shepherd mother and a White Husky father. These puppies are 3 and 1/2 months old and already weigh around 25+ lbs. They are going to be very large dogs. The two puppies are absolutely gorgeous and are very sweet. They will be up-to-date on shots, altered and on heartworm preventative before being adopted. If you are looking for a large companion, these dogs would make fine ones.

Higgins
Angel Tag #: 1849
Fostered by: Kim Graves
Higgins is the quintessential, all-American shaggy haired dog! Higgins’ personality resonates throughout his tail wagging body. In appearance, he is adorable. He is very loving, playful, and inquisitive. He loves to play with his stuffed animals. Higgins gets along well with other animals including cats. He is smart and very trainable! It is not known what Higgins is mixed with, but he appears to be a “no shed” variety. Higgins stands about 12” tall and currently weighs about 12-15 pounds. GAPR acquired Higgins from the Tipton County Animal Shelter. Due to overcrowding at the shelter Higgins was to be scheduled to be put down. An associate with GAPR noticed him and found him to be a wonderful dog, so his number was pulled and his live was spared. We suspect that Higgins is less than a year old. He is crate trained. As with any GAPR animal, Higgins is current on his shots, neutered and on heartworm preventative.

FOUND DOGS
These dogs were found in Cordova, TN
May eventually be up for adoption if owners are not located.
Please contact us for more info.

GINGER HINTON
Ginger is a 13 week old mixed breed female puppy found by a Good Samaritan in Sparta, TN in a ditch. She is very sweet, playful and gets along with other dogs. She is doing extremely well with potty training and is crate trained. Ginger is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations and on heartworm preventative. If you are in the market for a new family companion, look no longer.

DUSTY

MS. BEA
Mrs. Bea and her four puppies were found abandoned on the side of Collierville/Arlington Road during the last snow. Momma is a female Mastiff mix and weights about 80 lbs. Although she is a full figure woman, she is very gentle soul with very warm eyes. She loves to cuddle. She loves both children and adults and would make a very loyal companion. She is up-to-date on vaccinations and will be spayed before adoption. She will be starting heartworm treatment soon as she is heartworm positive.
Her three puppies are: Freckles Speck & Brutus
The puppies are 5 months old and
weigh about 30 lbs. Freckles was given her name
because of the slight sprinkling of freckles across her nose. She is very sweet,
playful, and loves to give kisses. Freckles can't wait for her foster family's
children to get home from school in the afternoons so they can run and play with
her. Speck has a small scar on his left cheek from
previous living conditions, but his foster family says it gives him character.
He is a little cautious of newcomers, but warms up quickly. Speck has a lot of
energy and loves to play. Brutus is a handsome boy
with a very expressive face. He is playful, curious and loves children.
Although all three boys love their foster family, they are ready to get settled
in a forever home. They are up-to-date on shots, neutered and on heartworm
preventative. They would make a wonderful addition to your family.

LUKE
Luke is a 10 week old male shepherd mix puppy. He was rescued from
the Tipton Animal Shelter. He is up-to-date on shots and will be
neutered before going to a new home. He is sweet, playful and gets
along well with other dogs. Luke would make a wonderful companion for
any family.

SABRINA
Sabrina is a young adult female Min Pin mix. She came to us from a
local puppy mill. She is a very sweet, loving girl. She has a lot of
energy and gets along well with other dogs. She is wonderful with
children, big and small. She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations,
and heartworm negative. Sabrina is housebroken. She would make a
wonderful family pet.

Elvis
Elvis's mother was not spayed and ended up having a large litter of puppies that needed homes on Cinco de Mayo 2007. A family saw him and thought he was a cute puppy so they took him home. Now Elvis is an 11 month old neutered male lovable lab mix that weighs 80 pounds. He is crate trained, has a sweet demeanor and loves to play. Elvis has never been around cats but is friendly around children and other dogs. He loves to ride in a car and can’t wait to meet his new forever family!

One of our colleagues is having a baby and was about to take her dog
to the pound. I cannot stand the thought of any dog going there
because that is like signing their death warrant (especially large
breed dogs) so he is now residing at my house. I however absolutely
cannot keep him permanently because I already have a Rottweiler and a
German Shepherd. I have attached his picture above. His name is
Rascal. I am not a fan of that name so I have tried calling him Duke
to see if I can get him to recognize that name but no luck so far. He
is husky and lab mix. Currently he is not neutered (why is beyond me)
but we are going to the vet this weekend to get that taken care of.
He is very timid at first but once he gets used to you he is very
friendly. He gets along amazingly well with other dogs and should not
grow any larger.I will post information again once I get him assessed at the
vet. My
boyfriend has given me a 2 week time limit to find him a home before
he has to go to the pound so PLEASE CROSS POST this far and wide if
you know anyone who may be looking for a dog or would be willing to
keep him for a longer period of time while he finds a home. I am very
willing to drive him out of state or wherever is necessary to get him
a good home. He is a wonderful companion and I can't imagine taking him to the
pound. Please help!

CLAIRE
Claire is a 7 year old Shih Tzu. She was found on the porch of a Good
Samaritan. Nobody ever came to claim her so now she is living in the
home of a Guardian Angel. She is very sweet and loving. She is
spayed, heartworm negative and up-to-date on vaccinations. She does
have dry eye and must have ointment put in her eyes. Claire just
needs a nice calm household where she can be the only pet.

We will post more info on these two cuties asap & they should be available for adoption soon pending health and temperament evaluations.

BERNADETTE
Bernadette is a young adult female Chihuahua/Terrier. She and her two siblings were found on the side of the road in East Tennessee. Her brother, Dack, was recently adopted. He was a black and white terrier and her sister, Arissa, looked just like him with Bernadette's face. They are all stunningly beautiful dogs. Bernadette is slightly skittish, but increasingly getting better in her new foster home. She gets along well with other dogs. She would make a great companion for an older couple or older person or a teenager's companion. She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations and heartworm negative and on preventative.

ROCKY
Rat Terrier mix 20 pounds 16 inches at shoulders
Rocky is a wonderful dog. He came
to us with a sad story. He was attacked
by a dog, then his owners took him to a boarding kennel and never came back
for him. Rocky came into the rescue after he had lived at the kennel for 4
months. He has been the perfect dog. Rarely does he jump on you and when
he does it is so gentle. Normally he will just walk up to you, sit in front
of you and look into your face with those sad brown eyes. He is the perfect
dog, housetrained, does not chew or tear up anything. He loves to sleep in
a small cat bed in the office of his foster Mom. Rocky gets along with cats
and other dogs. He is good with children also.o go into his forever
home.

Honey was found running in a
shopping center parking lot by Good Samaritan. Because of the Good Sam’s
situation she was moved into a friend’s home, and then we were asked to take
her. Poor honey has been in 5 different places. She is really friendly and
very loving. Honey seems to have been abused by a man. She is fine in my home,
and when we are around other people she is fine with men. It seems when she is
in a home without me and the man is tall she becomes protective of the lady of
the house. She will be a great pet, if you will take the time for her to trust
the men in her life. I feel if the men she is around are not 6 feet or taller
she will be fine. Photo

Posted 03- Keena (GAPR tag #1753): Hi! I'm an
adorable beagle-mix puppy named Keena. I'm about 15 weeks old and have tan
and black fur with white toes and tummy. I'm Little Miss Happy-Go-Lucky
and am independent--I love to explore every nook and cranny in my foster home
and backyard! Of course, I also love receiving belly rubs and puppy
treats, giving my foster family kisses, playing with dogs and people and,
especially, wrestling and napping with my brother, Keefer. Chew toys are
great fun, too, especially since I'm teething. I've just started learning
basic commands, but I'm a smart girl and am learning quickly. I've got
lots of energy so will want a yard to romp in and someone to walk me and play
with me.

around 40 lbs. He LOVES to give lots of kisses and love and play with
his foster family including the foster dogs! He shows no signs of
aggression, even with food, and he rarely barks. We haven't had him

ADOPTED!
Hello, I am Gianna. I am one of one of 5 dogs that were recently rescued from a puppymill by the Angels. Casanova, the only male was the first one adopted. What a handsome man he was!!! There are four of us ladies left. We are all absolutely gorgeous. We have great temperaments and are kennel-trained and housebroken. We have never been neglected, but we are ready to quit working and become someone's pampered pet in a forever home. We are all somewhere between 6 and 9 years old. But I promise you "older women make better pets". We are still full of life, but not at that crazy, young destructive age. We are all spayed now, up-to-date on vaccinations, hw negative and have all had dentals. So minus a few teeth, we are in great shape. So, please come and visit with us and see how wonderful we really are.
